The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’70 Nancy Collins (BS), of Green Bay, was recently inducted into the Green Bay Women’s Bowling Hall of Fame.

’71 Patrick Gaughan (BS), of Jacksonville, Florida, works with the nonprofit WeCCARE Foundation in Cameroon, Africa, doing medical missions. He recently was in the village of Etoko doing general surgeries and is now planning a cleft surgery mission through Smile Train in Yagoua.

’72 Samuel Cargile (BS), and ’73 (MSE), of Cape Town, South Africa, attended Inspiring Fifty South Africa 2017, an awards program sponsored by the Netherlands government that recognized 50 women from across sectors to inspire girls and women.

’77 Dennis Moon (BS), of Oshkosh, was inducted into the Badura Hall of Teacher Recognition on Sept. 8. It is the highest honor for teachers in the Wautoma Area School District.

’79 Jane (Runkel) Frederick (MSE), of Shorewood, has retired from higher education administration.

’79 Susan (Putzer) Guenther (BS), of Cary, North Carolina, is proud to be returning to UW Oshkosh for Homecoming where her husband, Richard Guenther, will be receiving a Distinguished Alumni Award.

’82 Pamela Bracewell (BS), of Two Rivers, is the alternative education teacher at the Phoenix Center in the Northland Pines School District.

’84 Mary Ann Salter (MSE), of Fond du Lac, enjoys retirement by volunteering in several organizations. She has spent 31 years with the Boy Scout organization, St. Vincent de Paul, Alpha Delta Kappa and Fond du Lac Area Retired Educators.

’87 Greg Reid (BS), formerly of Oshkosh, is library director at Bloomfield College in New Jersey.  He has most recently served as executive director of Central Park Campus Library at Collin College in McKinney, Texas, and has spent his entire 23-year career in higher education library settings.

’88 Anne (Gansemer) Wellens (BS), of Milwaukee, is retiring from the South Milwaukee police force after 28.5 years. She has been the chief of police for the last 12 years.

’89 Patricia (Horejs) Purcell (BS), of Neenah, will be celebrating 11 years of owning and operating Writing by Design LLC in October.

’93 Wendy Fisher (BME), of Pickett, has been teaching music in the Omro School District for more than 20 years, where she now serves as band director.

’94 Dan Decker (MBA), of Niagara, is happily retired.

’95 David Kelley-Daithi (BFA), of Madison, has two solo exhibits of “The Art of Daithi” at Alchemy in Madison and Wantoot Gallery in Mineral Point.

’95 Tracey (Marohn) Miller (BSE), and ’00 (MSE), of Omro, has been a high school teacher since 1995. She also is an adjunct instructor for UW Oshkosh and Fox Valley Technical College.  At one point, Miller attend UWO with her mother, brother and sister at the same time.

’98 Michael Pica (BSE), of Wautoma, is in his 18th year of teaching at Wautoma Area School District. At UWO, he played football for Coach Dennis Moon and was an assistant coach on the 2008 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Association Division 4 State Football Championship team.

’98 Luke Whitburn (BS), of Waunakee, is the estimating and process team leader for FLOOR360 in Madison.

’01 Noelle Lammers (BSE), of Shawano, teaches special education at Olga Brener Intermediate School and helps run the Shawano Hockey League food and beverage stand at the Shawano County fair.

’03 Stephanie Wild (BSE), of Oshkosh, is teaching eighth-grade U.S history and language arts at J.R. Gerritts Middle School in Kimberly.

’04 Clayton Kawski (BBA), of Madison, has been appointed to lead the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s Criminal Appeals Unit. He resides in Madison with his wife, Marci, and their two sons.

’04 Jamie (Supita) Mandigo (BS), of DeForest, is a dentist at a federally qualified health center who treats patients who would not typically be able to afford dentistry. She is a proud wife and mother to three boys.

’04 Phil Rath (MPA), of Monroe, helps with the general planning and direction of Monroe as its city administrator, all while raising his seven children born within a nine-year-span.

’05 Stephanie Cull (BSE), of Greenville, is a new staff member in the Arbor Vitae-Woodruff School District and brings experience in teaching special education from the Neenah Joint School District.

’05 Justin Hull (BS), of Germantown, is the brand manager for WHBY, WSCO, and Woodward Radio Group in Appleton.  He also is the host of a statewide radio show called, “In the Huddle,” which features Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Hundley and wide receiver Jeff Janis.

’05 Jennifer (Grimmenga) Kohnke (BSN), of Montello, was welcomed as a new staff member at ThedaCare Physicians-Green Lake.  She specializes in family medicine and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Practioners.

’06 Heather (Babauta) Heilman (BSE), of Hortonville, is teaching kindergarten at Lincoln School in New London.

’06 Jonathan Schreck (BS), of Hartford, is an operation manager at GE Healthcare and helps run a business unit that provides software to hospitals.

’07 Julie Felix (BSN), and ’11 (MSN), of Ripon, is a family nurse practitioner at the reopened ThedaCare Physicians-Princeton.  Felix belongs to the American Nurses Credentialing Center and serves as a volunteer first responder in her community.

’07 Adam King (BS), of Oregon, works as a firefighter and advanced EMT, as well as a relief captain and training officer.  He has been accepted to the National Fire Academy’s Managing Officer Program that begins in late November.

’09 John Erickson (BA), of West Hollywood, California, was recently appointed to the City of West Hollywood’s Lesbian and Gay Advisory Board.

’11 Bradley Demmin (BSE), of Oshkosh, is the school counselor at J.R. Gerritts Middle School.

’11 Heather Kopecky (BBA), of Hilbert, married Craig Wautlet on April 22 in Hilbert.  She is an administrative assistant at Riverside Animal Hospital.

’11 Leann Kunze (BSN), of Colby, is teaching four-year-old kindergarten at Holy Rosary
Catholic School in Medford.

’11 Kristen (Schmidt) Nickelatti (BSN), of Larson, a member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, joined the urology care team at ThedaCare Physicians in Berlin.

’12 Aaron Yonke (MS), of Suamico, is a social studies teacher in the Breitung Township School District.

’14 Matthew Hanson (BS), and ’17 (MS), of Albany, New York, attends the Industrial/Organizational Psychology doctoral program at the University at Albany, State University of New York System.

’15 Alexa (Nutter) Chiefari (BSE), of Fennimore, is a high school English teacher in the Fennimore School District.

’15 Gretchen Cimermancic (BS), of Milwaukee, who works as a front desk supervisor at the Crowne Plaza, is getting married in December.

’15 Mary Frank-Arlt (MBA), of Green Bay, will receive an Outstanding Alumni Award from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in October. She develops social media and digital branding strategies for Kohler Power and Kohler Co.

’15 Sarah (Bartels) Werner (BSN), of Beaver Dam, is a registered nurse in the ICU at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.  Following graduation, Werner got married, bought her first home and had a son.

’16 Joshua Hopfensperger (BSE), of Appleton, is the fifth-grade reading, writing and science teacher as well as the basketball coach at Woodland Intermediate School.

’16 Monique Jamrose (BSE), of Appleton, is teaching seventh-grade special education at J.R. Gerritts Middle School in Kimberly.

’16 Shannon La Dow (BSE), of Fremont, is a new second-grade teacher in the School District of Neillsville.

’17 Jacob Behm (BSE), of Princeton, is a new educator in the Princeton School District, teaching elementary/middle school physical education.

’17 Laura DeVoe (BBA), of Milwaukee, is enrolled in the Master’s in Teaching Program at Cardinal Stritch University.

’17 Matthew Jewell (BSE), of Northland Pines, is a new high school social studies teacher in the Northland Pines School District.

’17 John Johnson III (MPA), of Rhinelander, recently was appointed as a board member of Nicolet College. He is pursuing a master’s degree in healthcare management.

’67 James “Jim” Abbs (BS), of Madison, has served as an officer and board member for Habitat for Humanity, Wisconsin Association of Lakes and the International Federation of Fly Fishers since retiring from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Neurology.

’68 James “Jim” Dykstra (BS), of McLean, Virginia, is the chair of the Netherland-America Foundation’s annual Ambassadors’ Awards Dinner in Washington D.C. He is working with the Dutch embassy to prepare for the dinner, which will be held in spring at the historic Willard Hotel.

’69 Robert Keller (BS), of Kaukauna, chairman of J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. and president of the J. J. Keller Foundation, was inducted into the Neenah School District Hall of Fame in September.

 ’70 Hans-Peter Kohlhoff (BS), of Oshkosh, is a new German instructor with the JEDI Virtual K-12 School in Whitewater. Kohlhoff also owns Beep International Inc. and Pete Kohlhoff Realty.

 ’70 Barbara (Schmidt) Monfils (BS) and ’70 Lonald Monfils (BS), of Deerfield, attended the World communication Association Conference at American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

 ’76 Rob Richardson (BS), of Racine, has been a member of the Mount Pleasant Community Development Authority for more than six years and the chair for three years. In that role, he has been involved in bringing Foxconn to Wisconsin.

 ’78 Brian McCarthy (BBA), of Shawnee, Kansas, started his third year of teaching in the University of Kansas–Edwards Campus Engineering Management (EMGT) Masters Program.

’78 Daniel Meyer (BBA), of Eagle River, is the new State Department of Natural Resources secretary.

 ’83 Barbara (Heitman) Coleman (BBA), of Combined Locks, retired and started painting watercolors.

 ’83 Eileen (Thomas) Leinweber (BSN), and ’87 (MSN), of Oshkosh, is involved in the UW Oshkosh Learning in Retirement program. Leinweber also serves on the Aging and Disability Resource Center (ADRC) Winnebago County Committee and the Advisory Council for the Dean of the College of Nursing.

 ’84 Steven Bartel (BBA), of Fond du Lac, is a high school technical education instructor for the Chilton School District.

 ’84 Jeananne Greenwood (BSN), of Green Bay, is a new board member for the Freedom Area Historical Society.

 ’84 Tom Stanton (BS), of Grafton, is the founder of Mel’s Charities, which funds special needs organizations, memorial scholarships and human services.

’84 James Trenter (BBA), of Vancouver, Washington, is a vice president/partner with a commercial insurance brokerage in Portland, Oregon. Trenter allocated a major planned gift to Mel’s Charities, which supports special needs organizations, memorial scholarships and human services.

’85 Donald Becker (BS), of Pewaukee, is the owner of DBA Marketing Communications in Delafield.  He celebrated 20 years in business in September.

’85 Mark Muskevitsch (BBA), and ’96 (MBA), of Oconomowoc, is the chief financial officer for JX Enterprises Inc. and was named CFO of the Year-Large Companies by the Milwaukee Business Journal.

’86 Kathleen Kasakaitas (BS), of La Crosse, shared her passion, knowledge and experiences in treating and caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife at the Friends of the Black River meeting in Black River Falls. Kasakaitas is the animal control supervisor at the Coulee Region Humane Society in Onalaska.

 ’88 Edward Hew Cheong Yew (BBA), of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is now serving in Bangladesh at the Dhaka Community Hospital as project coordinator for disaster response, disaster risk reduction training, development and innovative project monitoring and evaluation. He has 13 years of experience in humanitarian work. 

’88 Mike Messenger (BBA), of Green Bay, was inducted into the Marinette High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a star baseball and football player.

’89 Diane (Boerschinger) Hertel (BS), and ’95 (MSE), of Oshkosh, has been a school administrator for the Neenah Joint School District since 1999 and a principal at Tullar Elementary since 2001.

’91 Christa (Struebing) Williams (BBA), of Van Dyne, spoke at the Women in Management Ripon-Green Lake Chapter meeting in October. Williams has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in corporate, nonprofit and educational settings.

’92 Renee (Melger) Burris (BS), of Milwaukee, celebrated 20 years as an underwriter with Kemper Insurance.

’92 Matthew Erdman (BS), of Richfield, was promoted to deputy fire chief with the City of Brookfield Fire Department.

’93 Kevin Brown (BS), of Pasco, Washington, celebrated his fourth year working at Permobile, formerly Tilite.

’93 Larry Potter (BS), of Seymour, has been promoted to assistant chief of the Appleton Police Department.

’94 Dirk Langfoss (MBA), of Bourbonnais, Illinois, is the new chief executive officer of the YMCA of Dodge County.

’99 Michael Frohna (MPA), of Sussex, is the new president of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin.

’99 Christian Wolslegel (MBA), of Appleton, is vice president of industrial business development at Miron Construction Co. Inc.

’00 Josh Preiser (BS) and ’12 (MBA), of Wausau, is an independent financial adviser and securities principal in Wausau.

’01 Julie Feider (BSW), and ’04 (MSE), of Menasha, is an adult behavioral health clinician at ThedaCare Physicians-Neenah.

’04 Cindy (Duchow) Jelinek (BBA), of Combined Locks, has been employed at Community First Credit Union for almost 16 years.

’06 Amanda Janssen-Egan (BA), of Green Bay, is a junior partner at Jigsaw LLC, an advertising agency in Milwaukee.

’06 Douglas Stadler (BS), of Fond du Lac, worked in the Cedarburg Bog State Natural Area near Newburg as a buckthorn control assistant last winter for the nonprofit organization Friends of the Cedarburg Bog on an ongoing project to combat invasive shrub species.

’08 Taylor Doberstein (BS), of Coralville, Iowa, joined ThedaCare Orthopedic Care in Neenah as a rheumatologist.

’08 Jennifer (Miller) Schnuell (BSE), of Chilton, is teaching fifth grade at Stockbridge Elementary School.

’09 Sheryl Droge (BSW), of Green Bay, works for an in-home parenting program and a homeless shelter for women and their children.

’09 Renee (Becker) Preis (BA), of Milwaukee, celebrated eight years with Northwestern Mutual in September.

’12 Sarah (Kissinger) Abfall (BBA), of Jackson, is the vice president of human resources at Custom Equipment.  

’12 Erica Roberts (BSE), of Wrightstown, is the 4-year-old kindergarten teacher at Wrightstown Elementary School.

’13 Ceev Sue Xiong (BBA), of Oshkosh, is working as the education and career development coordinator at the Boys and Girls Club of the Fox Valley.

’14 Jaime Antonio Castillo (BS), of Whitefish Bay, is in the Master of Nursing Program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

’14 Alex Phillips (BA), of Pulaski, is a new attorney at the law firm of Neuberger, Griggs, Sweet and Smith.

’14 Carly Roiniotis (BS), of Madison, is set to leave for Kenya, Africa, in December. She will work with the Jirani Project, a five-day educational camp that helps underprivileged children receive the proper education and skills training necessary to be successful members of  Kenyan society.

 ’14 Ian Wenger (BS), of Neenah, is opening Fifth Ward Brewing Co. in Oshkosh, with business partner Zach Clark in November.

’14 Boda Zhao (BSN), of Green Bay, is a nurse practitioner at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano.

’15 Paige Bonanno (BS), of Los Angeles, California, is a recipient of the 2017 Cynopsis Rising Star Award that salutes the best and brightest TV media professionals under 30. Bonanno climbed the ladder from intern to production assistant to associate producer at ABC.

’15 Brittney Hutchinson (BSE), of Fond du Lac, is a second-grade teacher at Donges Bay Elementary School in Mequon.

’15 Amos Mikkelson (BAS), of Neenah, is the new Harrison Fire-Rescue chief.

’15 Zak Thompson (BA), of Raleigh, North Carolina, is a brand strategist with Clean, an integrated branding agency that offers strategy, creative, digital, media and public relations.

’15 Caitlyn Vajgrt (BSE), of Oshkosh, is a high school social studies and business education teacher for the Oshkosh School District.

’15 Natalie Wilke (BSE), of Appleton, is a first-grade teacher at Freedom Elementary School.

’16 Stephen Fuhrman (BSE), of Fishers, Indiana, married Emily (Linton) Fuhrman in July. He is employed with Purity Wholesale Foods.

’16 Derek Pfister (BS), of Waukesha, got married in June and celebrated two years with CBS 58 News in Milwaukee as an editor and photojournalist.

’16 Scott Ramsay (BA), of La Crosse, is on a quest with his 11-year-old daughter to visit all of the state parks in Wisconsin.

’17 Hayley Berchem (BSE), of Kiel, is a fourth-grade teacher in the Kiel School District.

’17 Courtney Dettman (BSE), of Green Bay, is a special education teacher at Freedom Elementary School.

’17 Spencer Erickson (BSE), of Bemidji, Minnesota, is working towards his master’s degree and coaching outside linebackers at Bemidji State University.

’17 Zachary Malueg (BSE), of Manitowoc Rapids, is a new special education teacher for the Kiel School District.

’17 Katie Schmeltzer (MS), of Appleton, is the new associate principal at Freedom Elementary School.

’17 Kyle Schuh (BSE), of Little Chute, joined the St. Ignatius staff as a physical education instructor. Schuh also will be teaching at St. John-Sacred Heart Catholic School in Sherwood.

The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’62 Sister Elise Cholewinski (BS), of Appleton, has been a religious sister for 52 years and taught in the Emmaus Program (lay ministry) for the Green Bay Diocese for 20 years. Her vocation to religious life has involved elementary education, religious education, spiritual direction, retreat leadership, parish volunteer service as well as a vocation blog for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.

’70 Cliff Christl (BS), of Green Bay, published a new book, Packers Heritage Trail: The Town, The Team, The Fans From Lambeau to Lombardi, in September. Christl has been the official Packer historian since 2014 and previously spent more than 35 years as a sports writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Green Bay Press-Gazette.

’72 Orville Westphal (BBA), of Shawano, is a driver with the Shawano County Disabled American Veterans. He was a rural mail carrier in Green Bay for 25 years until his retirement in 2012.

’73 Barry Smanz (BS), of Juneau, coached the Dodgeland High School girls cross-country team to the 2017 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 state title in October in Wisconsin Rapids. As a student at UWO, Smanz was active in track and cross country.

’75 Dan Feldt (BS), of Menomonee Falls, has been an occupational health and safety specialist for 37 years. He currently works as a senior project manager for Stantec Consulting in Mequon.

’82 Thomas Washatka (BS), of Oshkosh, owns and operates one of the most successful music libraries in the world, “Narrator Tracks,” and his compositions have been featured in motion pictures and documentaries, such as “The Bucket List.” He played in a post-Thanksgiving concert at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake.

’85 Jeffrey Jensen (BS), of Phoenix, Arizona, is the new program director for the Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine. He also will serve as the associate dean in the College of Health Sciences. Jensen formerly served as dean and professor for seven years at the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida.

’88 Lynette (Kreuser) Anderson (BS), of Kenosha, will be honored at a celebration recognizing her 25th year of teaching and counseling in the Kenosha Unified School District. Anderson currently serves as a member of the UW Oshkosh Alumni Association Board of Directors.

’88 Michael Elter (BS), of Drummonds, Tennessee, is a marketing analyst and adviser for the U.S. Navy Recruiting Command in Millington.

’88 Judy (Resheski) Urben (BS), of Oshkosh, has worked in the public relations and communications field at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac for 26 years. She has been married to fellow UW Oshkosh alumnus, ’88 Jon Urben (BS), for 26 years. They have two children.

’95 Megan Parsons (BBA), of Sturgeon Bay, has moved back to Wisconsin after living 21 years in Florida.

’95 Jennifer (Popinski) Vieira (BA), of Spring, Texas, has been living outside Houston, Texas for 22 years. She and her husband enjoy traveling, working on home projects and discovering new hobbies.

’96 Mark Habeck (BA), of Oshkosh, is a human resources generalist for Winnebago County Human Services, focusing on recruitment and hiring.

’96 Jack Thresher (BS), formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, is the new director of workforce management at Faith Technologies corporate headquarters in Menasha.

’02 Shawn Robinson (BS), of Madison, was elected to a three-year ream as director at-large for the International Dyslexia Association. Robinson will work to create a positive future for all individuals who struggle with dyslexia and other related reading difficulties.

’03 Father Luke Strand (BBA), of Brookfield, received the 2017 Dehon Distinguished Ministry Award. Strand served as a priest of Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac prior to becoming vocation director for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 2012. He established the John Paul II House of Discernment at St. Robert Parish in Shorewood, increasing the number of seminarians in formation from 17 to 40 during his directorship.

’05 Joe Schmidt (BSE), of Augusta, Maine, is the state social studies specialist for the Maine Department of Education.

’06 Andrew Cordova (BBA), of Rhinelander, is a manager at accounting firm, KerberRose S. C. Cordova is a CPA/CMA with more than 11 years of public accounting experience in tax and business accounting service.

’06 Tammy Gorski (MSW), of Mosinee, is pursuing a doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Marian University in Fond du Lac. She anticipates graduating in 2019.

’06 Dana Irmick (MSN), of Hazelhurst, is a family nurse practitioner at Peter Christensen Health Center in Lac du Flambeau, an inpatient hospital and a local tribal primary care clinic that provides preventative, acute and chronic care management. Her son is a freshman at UW Oshkosh.

’07 Amanda Bohn (BS), of Hortonville, graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2012. She now practices at Black Creek Chiropractic Office.

’10 Gerald Norz (MBA), of De Pere, spent 10 days in Haiti with his wife working on a project to assist with the development of a technical school for disadvantaged children. He is vice president of global customer service for B&W Megtec Systems in De Pere, where he has worked for 28 years.

’11 Abbey Thompson (BA), of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is working as a residence hall director at Western Michigan University. She opened Kzoo Cat Café, where 20 or more adoptable cats mingle with customers. The café has had 43 successful adoptions since opening in June.

’14 Patrick Hill (BLS), of Woodbury, Minnesota, is an international banker at the US Bank headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

’14 Bridgette Weber (BS), of Madison, started Singing Bowl Chef, a personal chef service that specializes in creating meals for customers using local, sustainable, organic produce and grass-fed meats.

’15 Jordan Fields (BBA), and ’16 Danielle Meier (BSE), of Oshkosh, were married in July at Southport Beach House in Kenosha. Jordan is employed by Oshkosh Defense.  Danielle works for the Oshkosh Area School District.

’15 Alyssa Maglio (BSN), of Cedarburg, is a pediatric nurse at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

’15 Jared Schultz (BS) and ’16 Shelby (Coats) Schultz (BA), of Carmel, Indiana, were married Nov. 4, 2017.

’64 Patricia (Oaks) Jungers (BS), of Waupaca, has a granddaughter who is a sophomore at UW Oshkosh and on the women’s rugby team.

’67 Gerald Murphy (BS) and ’73 (MST), of Waupaca, retired from teaching in 2002 and has been serving as a county board supervisor on the Waupaca County Board since 2004.

’68 Ronald Haag (BBA) and ’81 (MBA), of Van Dyne, retired from Gardner Denver Corp in Sheboygan as materials manager in 2012.

’68 Gerald Peterson (BS), of Saginaw, Michigan, is retiring from Saginaw Valley State University after 43 years of teaching, research and advising students.

’74 Izabella Cieszynski (BS), of Newport News, Virginia, retired after serving as director of the Newport News Department of Libraries and Information Services.

 ’75 A. Martin Strand (BBA), of Oshkosh, and his wife enjoyed serving on the set-up crew and retrieving footballs when they went out of bounds during play at the Titan football playoff game Thanksgiving weekend.

’77 Gerald Giese (BS) and ’88 (MSE), of Brillion, retired from teaching in 2011 but still serves as a substitute at Reedsville Elementary Middle School.

’77 Dennis Moon (BS), of Oshkosh, is assisting with the UWO Titan Football program, following his retirement from Wautoma High School after 30 years of teaching and coaching.

’77 Brenda (Anderson) Mueller (BS) and ’80 (MS), of Merrill, is retired and enjoys traveling with her husband to see their daughters. They also are very involved in giving back to their community and serve on a committee to build a walking/biking trail.

’77 Steven Schafer (BS), of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, retired in 2015 after 32 years as an auditor with the Minnesota Department of Revenue.

 ’80 Donna Tieberg (BS), of Barrington, Illinois, is a senior administrator and meeting planner at Wells Fargo Securities LLC in Chicago.

’81 Patti Anderson-Shew (BS) and ’92 (MBA), of Oshkosh, has been named chair of the One-Stop Standing Committee by the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board.

’81 Blaine Felsman (BS), of Oshkosh, was inducted into the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a wrestling coach at Berlin High School.

 ’84 Michael Case (BS), of La Crescent, Minnesota, has worked at Gunderson Health in LaCrosse for 20 years as a surgeon. He works with fellow alumna Heidi Swanson ’14 (BSN), who is a surgical nurse at Gunderson Health.

’86 Dana (Shanklin) Hartel (BS), of Winneconne, celebrated 30 years as a percussionist with the Oshkosh Area Community Band in April.

’86 Janet Klapatauskas (BSN), of Milwaukee, is a senior clinical policy coordinator for Aurora Health Care.

’87 Hugh Jones (MBA), of Rhinelander, retired from BMO Financial as district president.

’89 Amy (Chipman) Albrecht (BS), of Mission, Texas, has been teaching K-6th grade physical education and health since 1989. Her daughter Kaitlyn recently graduated from UWO.

’90 Shelia Delzer (BS), of Sun City, Arizona, celebrated her 60th wedding anniversary with her husband Gordon.

’90 May (Leivian) Taylor (BS), of Oshkosh, was selected for induction into the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hall of Fame for her success in UWO women’s gymnastics.

’91 Angela (Root) Meidl Mosare (BBA), of Oregon, is the manager of applications and web development at UW-Extension’s Continuing Education, Outreach and E-Learning. She received the 2017 Academic Staff Council Award of Excellence for UW-Extension.

’92 Joey Leonard (BS), of Scandanavia, a human resources executive with more than 20 years of experience, acquired The H.S. Group. He was previously the executive vice president of human resources for Waupaca Foundry.

’93 Richard Gilgenbach (BS), of Fond du Lac, received a heart transplant in October at Aurora-St. Luke’s in Milwaukee.

’94 Lori (Hamann) Much (BSE) and ’98 (MS), of Sheboygan Falls, is in her 24th of year teaching Spanish in Sheboygan and has taken students on trips to Cost Rica, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Spain.

 ’94 Ronald Thomas (BS), of Clearwater, Florida, retired from teaching at Pinellas County Schools in Florida in June 2016.

’94 Christopher Turoski (BS), of Saint Paul, Minnesota, is a professor and the director of patent programs at the University of Minnesota Law School. He was formerly vice president at Cargill Animal Nutrition Technologies Inc.

’95 Kristal Kautz (BS), of Oak Creek, is working as a mortgage consultant for Zilber Inc. in Milwaukee.

’95 Sara (Voss) Siwy (BS), of Germantown, has worked with Froedert Health for more than 12 years. Her current position as a communications specialist includes internal and external communication duties.

’95 Jamie (Wasserman) Zehren (BS), of Milwaukee, is an alcohol and other drug recovery support coordinator at La Causa in Glendale.

’96 Scott Blader (BS), of Wautoma, is the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin. He was nominated for the position by President Donald Trump in August and confirmed by the U.S. Senate in November.

’97 Pamela (Hodkiewicz) Pillar (BS), of Oshkosh, is a technical illustrator for Oshkosh Defense.

’98 Terry Jorgensen (BSE), of Luxemburg, was selected for induction into the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hall of Fame for his success as a Titan baseball player.

’98 Tim Jorgensen (BBA), of New Franken, was selected for induction into the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Hall of Fame for his success as a Titan baseball player.

’98 Shauna (Czakowski) Richardson (BSN) and ’02 Alyssa (Czakowski) Skalitzky (BSN), of Kenosha, opened Family Psychiatric Care, a healthcare clinic focused on psychiatric medication management in Kenosha.

’01 Greg Matzek (BA), of Milwaukee, hosts WTMJ’s nightly Sports Central program and “Packers OT” on the Green Bay Packers Radio Network.

’01 Craig Trost (BA), of Madison, is the political director for Congressman Mark Pocan’s campaign.

 ’02 Carlos Lewison (BM), of Madison, is the general manager at Hostelling International Madison and is considering moving to Spain in 2018.

’02 Matthew Schreiber (BS), of Lake Mills, is the planning and development director for Columbus.

’04 Ryan Collier (BBA), of Stillwater, Minnesota, is a global advisory architect for a dedicated global account for Dell EMC (Dell Technology). He and his wife Mary recently celebrated the birth of their daughter Josephine.

’04 Curt Naegeli (BS), of Coleman, is the owner of North Woods Distillery, where he makes toffee flavored rum.

’04 Todd Searl (BA), of North Hollywood, California, worked as a graphic designer on the reunion series of NBC’s Will & Grace this past fall.

’05 Mark Jakubeck (BS), of Deforest, is a clinical athletic trainer at SSM Health Dean Medical Group where he helps patients in the comprehensive sports medicine department.

’07 Nathan Edwards (BM), of Oshkosh, is the recording technologies director for the Music Industry offering in the UWO Music Department.

’07 Jennifer Leverentz (BSE), of Sun Prairie, teaches fourth grade at Columbus Middle School and was honored by WISC-TV Channel 3 in Madison as the December Top Notch Teacher of the Month.

’08 Ashley (Veldboom) Vandermause (BBA), of Neenah, is the chief financial officer at UnitedOne Credit Union.

’08 Stefanie (Adkins) Wagner (BA), of Baraboo, is an associate attorney at the law firm Curran, Hollenbeck and Orton S.C.

’09 Matthew Cole (BS), of Greendale, is the co-founder of Dealer Inspire and Launch Digital Marketing. He and his co-founder, Joe Chura, are moving the technology businesses into a building in downtown Appleton.

’09 Jason McKay (BM), of Burbank, California, has been with Music Tribe in e-commerce for two years and has been in the music business for 20 years.

’09 Dan Shafer (BA), Waukesha, is the digital managing editor at Seattle Magazine and Seattle Business Magazine.

’09 Stacey Shurpit (BBA), of Neshkoro, is the proud mom of three sons who all wrestle. She loves the sport and what it teaches youth about confidence, discipline and sportsmanship.

’10 Adam Gitter (BS), of West Bend, is the economic development manager for the city of West Bend.

’10 Darci (Wildermuth) Weber (BS) and ’06 Ryan Weber (BS), of Belmont, met at UWO in 2005 then reconnected a few years later and were married in 2012. They welcomed their daughter Chloe on Sept. 20, 2017.

’10 Ger Xiong (BBA), of Fond du Lac, is a business development specialist at Advocap, where she assists low-income business owners in Fond du Lac, Winnebago and Green Lake counties with startup, expansion, technical assistance and business plans. She has kidney failure and is in search of a donor.

 ’12 Eric Balkman (BS), of Appleton, appeared on UWO’s Radio-TV-Film Pro Perspectives Panel during homecoming weekend. He is the media coordinator for Fantasy Football Players Championship.

’12 Samantha (Strong) Duenkel (BA), of Oshkosh, is the marketing content writer and social media manager for the National Association of Tax Professionals.

’12 Joshua Hughes (BS) and ’14 Allison (Kerwin) Hughes (BBA), of Waukesha, were married in Pewaukee in October. They met outside Peabody’s in 2014 and Joshua proposed in the exact same spot they met during Homecoming 2016.

’12 Lindsay Leinenkugel (BFA), of Chippewa Falls, is the Milwaukee marketing manager for Flowers for Dreams, an online flower delivery startup that donates 25 percent of its profits to local charities.

’12 Angela Paddock (BS), of Waukesha, is studying for a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Alverno College.

’12 Renee Schumacher (BFA), of Green Lake, is a K-12 art specialist in the Oshkosh Area School District. She is working towards a master’s degree at UWO.

’13 Christopher Laurishke (BSE) and ’14 Brittany (Walder) Laurishke (BSE), of Wauwatosa, were married Aug. 5, 2017, in Brookfield. Christopher teaches U.S history and world studies at Homestead High School, and Brittany is a special education teacher at Wilson Elementary School in Mequon.

’13 Sonja (Funnell) Oldenburg (BFA), of Menasha, will be featured in the Giving Gallery art show at the Northwestern Mutual building in Milwaukee in February 2018.

’14 Leah Christian (BSE), of Denver, Colorado, is teaching at Denver Discovery School as the math team lead. For the past three years, she has traveled around the country with the Academy of Best Practices and has taken students to Dublin, Costa Rica, London and Paris.

’14 Shawn Schmitt (BBA), of Kaukauna, is an order fulfillment coordinator at Neenah Foundry.

The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’56 Captain William King (BS), of Chester, Virginia, has six great-grandchildren and sings in a barbershop choir.

’66 Roger Korinek (BS), of Fond du Lac, retired from teaching at St. Mary’s Springs Academy after 45 years. He organizes educational tours to Washington, D.C.

’66 Gary Laabs (BS), of Hanover, Pennsylvania, recently got his bachelor’s of science in nursing from Western Governors University. He works as a hospital clinical staff nurse at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. Nursing is his third career, following distinguished military and human resource careers.  He and his wife of more than 48 years have four grown children.

’67 James O’Laughlin (BBA), of Omaha, Nebraska, has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.   

’69 Norbert Hill (BS), and ’71 (MSE), of Oneida, coauthored a 2017 anthology titled The Great Vanishing Act: Blood Quantum and the Future of Native Nations. The book, which focuses on the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, cites many authors and different types of literature from around the world. 

’75 Keith LaGraves (BS), of Wakefield, Massachusetts, retired from Russell, Brier & Co., a certified public accounting firm in Boston where he was a partner for 20 years.

’75 Patrick Pazdernik (BS), ’76 (BS) and ’81 (MS), of Jamestown, North Carolina, retired from Kimberly-Clark, after 28 years as director of global business development. He recently accepted a position with High Point University as an adjunct marketing instructor.

’78 Dwight Stefan (BA), of Hartford, worked as a substitute teacher for nine years, a daycare teacher, census worker, appliance repairman, auto mechanic and concrete construction worker.

’79 Daniel Radley (BME) and ’84 (MA), of Waupaca, retired in 2011 as band director and coach from the Prairie Farm School District. Radley moved to Waupaca where he plays tuba and conducts with the Wild Rose Community Band. He also ia a referee for middle school and high school sports in the Waupaca area.

’79 Charles Tank (BS), and ’84 (MA), of Dodgeville, released his third book, Letters to Lydia: Words of Advice from a Grandfather to his Grandchildren, inspired by his 18-month-old granddaughter, Lydia Alleman.    

’81 Karie (Eggebeen) Green (BME), of Green Bay, the artistic director for the Green Bay Girl Choir for the past 10 years,  has been part of the organization for 25 years.

’83 Barbara (Schmitz) Benish (BS), and ’92 (MBA), of Oshkosh, writes, edits and graphic designs for a variety of publications, including EAA AirVenture Today, Wild Ones Journal, Wisconsin Woodlands, Wisconsin Game Warden and Career Education Review.

’87 Lauren Polenske (BS), of Chicago, Illinois, celebrated 25 years as the artistic director for The Hale Theatre Company in Chicago. Her recent directing projects include Into the Woods, Smokey Joe’s Café and Les Miserables.  Polenske’s sons, Sean and Daniel Murphy, are both Eagle Scouts. In June, she will celebrate 23 years of marriage to Michael Murphy.

’88 Mark Bohn (BS), of Omro, has been a social studies teacher for 25 years at Omro High School. He also served for more than a decade in the military.

’88 Pat Delcore (BS), of Sturgeon Bay, retired after 15 years as the Southern Door High School softball coach. His teams earned two state tournament appearances, seven regional titles and multiple Packerland Conference championships.

’89 Mohd Yaziz Bin Mohn Isa (MBA), of Batu Caves, Malaysia, was conference manager at the 2017 Global Waqf Conference. Waqf is an Islamic endowment for wealth re-distribution with philanthropic objectives and acts of charity. He also managed the 2016 conference in Wales and the 2015 conference in Moscow.

’90 Mark Matzke (BS), of De Pere, was promoted to president of Humana. Matzke joined Humana in 1995 and has more than 25 years of healthcare insurance experience

’92 Melissa Anderson (BSE), and ’95 (MSE), of Clintonville, a teacher in the New London School District, recently received National Board Certification in the area of middle/generalist for ages seven to twelve.

’94 Mike Burman (BS), of Appleton, the owner of Focal Point Photography, primarily shoots interiors and architecture. 

’94 Mark Klossner (BS), of Iron Mountain, Michigan, is vice president of marketing for BOSS Snowplow, a manufacturer of snow and ice control equipment.

’95 Laura (Pueschner) Baehnman (BSN), of Weyauwega, is a nurse at ThedaCare Physicians-Wautoma.

’98 Jason Radtke (BBA), of New London, is the new owner of Summit Accounting & Tax, previously known as Smith & Radtke Accounting.

’99 Christine Feder (BSN), of Wisconsin Rapids, is a family nurse practitioner at Aspirus Riverview Clinics in Wisconsin Rapids and the Town of Rome.

’00 Jamie (Smith) Ceman (BBA), of Irvine, California, who recently resigned as assistant chancellor of University Marketing and Communications at UWO, is vice president of strategic marketing and communications at Chapman University in Orange, California.

’02 Mathew Schreiber (BS), of Lake Mills, is city director of planning and development.

’02 Kristin (Steckmesser) Stanley (BBA), of Onalaska, will be inducted in April into the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018. She played basketball at UW Oshkosh and volleyball, basketball and softball at Two Rivers High School.

’04 Karen Carley (BSN), of Omro, is the health and nursing services director for the Omro School District.

’04 Curt Naegeli (BS), of Coleman, is the owner of North Woods Distillery, a rum producer.

’04 Justin Schneider (BBA), of Sheboygan Falls, was named a shareholder of Schenck SC, a full-service regional accounting and consulting firm. Schneider is a member of the firm’s manufacturing and distribution team and small and emerging business service line. He also is a retired member of the Air National Guard.

’06 Jennifer Rabas (BS), of Madison, graduated with a doctorate of education degree from the University of Missouri. She is an Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Program coordinator at the University of Wisconsin.

’06 Jesse Wiltzius (BSE), of Green Bay, is in his 12th year of teaching eighth-grade social studies at Bay View Middle School. Wiltzius also coaches high school baseball and middle school basketball and volleyball. He has a one-year-old son, Jaxon.

’07 Alisha (Lowman) Lowden-Sarauer (BSN), of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is a board-certified nurse practitioner for the gastroenterology clinic at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

’10 Kylie (McGowan) Harwell (BS), of Oshkosh, is communications coordinator for the Appleton Area School District. In June, she married Tanner Harwell at Chattooga Belle Farm in South Carolina.

’10 Emily (Krug) Heideman (BA), of Fond du Lac, is the assistant director and information technology coordinator at the Waupaca Area Public Library. Heideman worked as a teen librarian for more than four years.

’12 Jessica Bedore (BA), of De Pere, manages public relations for Ariens Company’s whole goods business. She owns and operates Jessica Bedore Photography, a fine art photography studio focused on destination weddings.

’12 Gerald Chatman (BS), of Nashville, Tennessee, is the outside linebackers coach at Tennessee State University. His coaching experience includes UWO, Ball State University, Butler University, the Green Bay Packers, Texas A&M University, Elon University and the Denver Broncos.

’12 Elisa Derickson (BA), of Madison, and her husband, Daniel Krueger, have fostered 10 children between the ages of six months and 8 years since 2015.

’13 Trevor Uitenbroek (BA), of Kaukauna, is producer and editor for Action 2 News This Morning. Uitenbroek’s main role is putting together all of the on-air videos.

’14 Bryan Grulkowski (BA), of Alexandria, Virginia, graduated from law school and passed the Washington D.C. bar exam. Grulkowski is a justice adviser for the Department of State.

’14 Darren Steger (BBA), of Winter Garden, Florida, is a financial reporting analyst for Walt Disney Vacation Club.  He earned his Certified Public Accountant certification in 2017.

’16 Brenna McDermot (BA), of Fond du Lac, is an English and English as a Second Language candidate at UW-Madison, working towards a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.

’16 Juliann Stanis (BSN), of Portland, Oregon, achieved the National Certification Corporation credential of Maternal Newborn Nurse. NCC is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors a national certification program in the obstetric, gynecologic and neonatal specialties. 

’17 Brock Saniter (BSE), of Thorp, teaches seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade social studies in the Thorp School District.

’17 Sarah Smith (BS), of Shawano, is a licensed athletic trainer with ThedaCare Orthopedic Care, where she helps student-athletes properly care for their bodies.

’17 April Stern (BS), of Kewaskum, is enrolled at Carroll University, finishing her last semester of her didactic year.  She will graduate with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies in May 2019.

’67 James “Jim” Abbs (BS), of Madison, has served as an officer and board member for Habitat for Humanity, Wisconsin Association of Lakes and the International Federation of Fly Fishers since retiring from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Department of Neurology.

’68 James “Jim” Dykstra (BS), of McLean, Virginia, is the chair of the Netherland-America Foundation’s annual Ambassadors’ Awards Dinner in Washington D.C. He is working with the Dutch embassy to prepare for the dinner, which will be held in spring at the historic Willard Hotel.

’69 Robert Keller (BS), of Kaukauna, chairman of J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. and president of the J. J. Keller Foundation, was inducted into the Neenah School District Hall of Fame in September.

 ’70 Hans-Peter Kohlhoff (BS), of Oshkosh, is a new German instructor with the JEDI Virtual K-12 School in Whitewater. Kohlhoff also owns Beep International Inc. and Pete Kohlhoff Realty.

 ’70 Barbara (Schmidt) Monfils (BS) and ’70 Lonald Monfils (BS), of Deerfield, attended the World communication Association Conference at American University of Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

 ’76 Rob Richardson (BS), of Racine, has been a member of the Mount Pleasant Community Development Authority for more than six years and the chair for three years. In that role, he has been involved in bringing Foxconn to Wisconsin.

 ’78 Brian McCarthy (BBA), of Shawnee, Kansas, started his third year of teaching in the University of Kansas–Edwards Campus Engineering Management (EMGT) Masters Program.

’78 Daniel Meyer (BBA), of Eagle River, is the new State Department of Natural Resources secretary.

 ’84 Tom Stanton (BS), of Grafton, is the founder of Mel’s Charities, which funds special needs organizations, memorial scholarships and human services.

’84 James Trenter (BBA), of Vancouver, Washington, is a vice president/partner with a commercial insurance brokerage in Portland, Oregon. Trenter allocated a major planned gift to Mel’s Charities, which supports special needs organizations, memorial scholarships and human services.

’85 Donald Becker (BS), of Pewaukee, is the owner of DBA Marketing Communications in Delafield.  He celebrated 20 years in business in September.

’85 Mark Muskevitsch (BBA), and ’96 (MBA), of Oconomowoc, is the chief financial officer for JX Enterprises Inc. and was named CFO of the Year-Large Companies by the Milwaukee Business Journal.

’86 Kathleen Kasakaitas (BS), of La Crosse, shared her passion, knowledge and experiences in treating and caring for sick, injured and orphaned wildlife at the Friends of the Black River meeting in Black River Falls. Kasakaitas is the animal control supervisor at the Coulee Region Humane Society in Onalaska.

 ’88 Edward Hew Cheong Yew (BBA), of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is now serving in Bangladesh at the Dhaka Community Hospital as project coordinator for disaster response, disaster risk reduction training, development and innovative project monitoring and evaluation. He has 13 years of experience in humanitarian work. 

’88 Mike Messenger (BBA), of Green Bay, was inducted into the Marinette High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He was a star baseball and football player.

’89 Diane (Boerschinger) Hertel (BS), and ’95 (MSE), of Oshkosh, has been a school administrator for the Neenah Joint School District since 1999 and a principal at Tullar Elementary since 2001.

’91 Christa (Struebing) Williams (BBA), of Van Dyne, spoke at the Women in Management Ripon-Green Lake Chapter meeting in October. Williams has more than 25 years of executive leadership experience in corporate, nonprofit and educational settings.

’06 Douglas Stadler (BS), of Fond du Lac, worked in the Cedarburg Bog State Natural Area near Newburg as a buckthorn control assistant last winter for the nonprofit organization Friends of the Cedarburg Bog on an ongoing project to combat invasive shrub species.

’08 Taylor Doberstein (BS), of Coralville, Iowa, joined ThedaCare Orthopedic Care in Neenah as a rheumatologist.

 ’14 Ian Wenger (BS), of Neenah, is opening Fifth Ward Brewing Co. in Oshkosh, with business partner Zach Clark in November.

’14 Boda Zhao (BSN), of Green Bay, is a nurse practitioner at ThedaCare Physicians-Shawano.

’15 Paige Bonanno (BS), of Los Angeles, California, is a recipient of the 2017 Cynopsis Rising Star Award that salutes the best and brightest TV media professionals under 30. Bonanno climbed the ladder from intern to production assistant to associate producer at ABC.

’15 Brittney Hutchinson (BSE), of Fond du Lac, is a second-grade teacher at Donges Bay Elementary School in Mequon.

’15 Amos Mikkelson (BAS), of Neenah, is the new Harrison Fire-Rescue chief.

’15 Zak Thompson (BA), of Raleigh, North Carolina, is a brand strategist with Clean, an integrated branding agency that offers strategy, creative, digital, media and public relations.

’62 Sister Elise Cholewinski (BS), of Appleton, has been a religious sister for 52 years and taught in the Emmaus Program (lay ministry) for the Green Bay Diocese for 20 years. Her vocation to religious life has involved elementary education, religious education, spiritual direction, retreat leadership, parish volunteer service as well as a vocation blog for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross.

’70 Cliff Christl (BS), of Green Bay, published a new book, Packers Heritage Trail: The Town, The Team, The Fans From Lambeau to Lombardi, in September. Christl has been the official Packer historian since 2014 and previously spent more than 35 years as a sports writer for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Green Bay Press-Gazette.

’72 Orville Westphal (BBA), of Shawano, is a driver with the Shawano County Disabled American Veterans. He was a rural mail carrier in Green Bay for 25 years until his retirement in 2012.

’73 Barry Smanz (BS), of Juneau, coached the Dodgeland High School girls cross-country team to the 2017 Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 3 state title in October in Wisconsin Rapids. As a student at UWO, Smanz was active in track and cross country.

’75 Dan Feldt (BS), of Menomonee Falls, has been an occupational health and safety specialist for 37 years. He currently works as a senior project manager for Stantec Consulting in Mequon.

’82 Thomas Washatka (BS), of Oshkosh, owns and operates one of the most successful music libraries in the world, “Narrator Tracks,” and his compositions have been featured in motion pictures and documentaries, such as “The Bucket List.” He played in a post-Thanksgiving concert at Thrasher Opera House in Green Lake.

’85 Jeffrey Jensen (BS), of Phoenix, Arizona, is the new program director for the Arizona School of Podiatric Medicine. He also will serve as the associate dean in the College of Health Sciences. Jensen formerly served as dean and professor for seven years at the Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine in Miami Shores, Florida.

’88 Lynette (Kreuser) Anderson (BS), of Kenosha, will be honored at a celebration recognizing her 25th year of teaching and counseling in the Kenosha Unified School District. Anderson currently serves as a member of the UW Oshkosh Alumni Association Board of Directors.

’88 Michael Elter (BS), of Drummonds, Tennessee, is a marketing analyst and adviser for the U.S. Navy Recruiting Command in Millington.

’88 Judy (Resheski) Urben (BS), of Oshkosh, has worked in the public relations and communications field at Moraine Park Technical College in Fond du Lac for 26 years. She has been married to fellow UW Oshkosh alumnus, ’88 Jon Urben (BS), for 26 years. They have two children.

’95 Megan Parsons (BBA), of Sturgeon Bay, has moved back to Wisconsin after living 21 years in Florida.

’95 Jennifer (Popinski) Vieira (BA), of Spring, Texas, has been living outside Houston, Texas for 22 years. She and her husband enjoy traveling, working on home projects and discovering new hobbies.

’96 Mark Habeck (BA), of Oshkosh, is a human resources generalist for Winnebago County Human Services, focusing on recruitment and hiring.

’96 Jack Thresher (BS), formerly of Fargo, North Dakota, is the new director of workforce management at Faith Technologies corporate headquarters in Menasha.

’02 Shawn Robinson (BS), of Madison, was elected to a three-year ream as director at-large for the International Dyslexia Association. Robinson will work to create a positive future for all individuals who struggle with dyslexia and other related reading difficulties.

’03 Father Luke Strand (BBA), of Brookfield, received the 2017 Dehon Distinguished Ministry Award. Strand served as a priest of Holy Family Parish in Fond du Lac prior to becoming vocation director for the Archdiocese of Milwaukee in 2012. He established the John Paul II House of Discernment at St. Robert Parish in Shorewood, increasing the number of seminarians in formation from 17 to 40 during his directorship.

’05 Joe Schmidt (BSE), of Augusta, Maine, is the state social studies specialist for the Maine Department of Education.

’06 Andrew Cordova (BBA), of Rhinelander, is a manager at accounting firm, KerberRose S. C. Cordova is a CPA/CMA with more than 11 years of public accounting experience in tax and business accounting service.

’06 Tammy Gorski (MSW), of Mosinee, is pursuing a doctorate in educational administration and leadership from Marian University in Fond du Lac. She anticipates graduating in 2019.

’06 Dana Irmick (MSN), of Hazelhurst, is a family nurse practitioner at Peter Christensen Health Center in Lac du Flambeau, an inpatient hospital and a local tribal primary care clinic that provides preventative, acute and chronic care management. Her son is a freshman at UW Oshkosh.

’07 Amanda Bohn (BS), of Hortonville, graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2012. She now practices at Black Creek Chiropractic Office.

’10 Gerald Norz (MBA), of De Pere, spent 10 days in Haiti with his wife working on a project to assist with the development of a technical school for disadvantaged children. He is vice president of global customer service for B&W Megtec Systems in De Pere, where he has worked for 28 years.

’11 Abbey Thompson (BA), of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is working as a residence hall director at Western Michigan University. She opened Kzoo Cat Café, where 20 or more adoptable cats mingle with customers. The café has had 43 successful adoptions since opening in June.

’14 Patrick Hill (BLS), of Woodbury, Minnesota, is an international banker at the US Bank headquarters in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

’14 Bridgette Weber (BS), of Madison, started Singing Bowl Chef, a personal chef service that specializes in creating meals for customers using local, sustainable, organic produce and grass-fed meats.

’15 Jordan Fields (BBA), and ’16 Danielle Meier (BSE), of Oshkosh, were married in July at Southport Beach House in Kenosha. Jordan is employed by Oshkosh Defense.  Danielle works for the Oshkosh Area School District.

’15 Alyssa Maglio (BSN), of Cedarburg, is a pediatric nurse at Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee.

’15 Jared Schultz (BS) and ’16 Shelby (Coats) Schultz (BA), of Carmel, Indiana, were married Nov. 4, 2017.

’64 Patricia (Oaks) Jungers (BS), of Waupaca, has a granddaughter who is a sophomore at UW Oshkosh and on the women’s rugby team.

’67 Gerald Murphy (BS) and ’73 (MST), of Waupaca, retired from teaching in 2002 and has been serving as a county board supervisor on the Waupaca County Board since 2004.

’68 Ronald Haag (BBA) and ’81 (MBA), of Van Dyne, retired from Gardner Denver Corp in Sheboygan as materials manager in 2012.

’68 Gerald Peterson (BS), of Saginaw, Michigan, is retiring from Saginaw Valley State University after 43 years of teaching, research and advising students.

’74 Izabella Cieszynski (BS), of Newport News, Virginia, retired after serving as director of the Newport News Department of Libraries and Information Services.

 ’75 A. Martin Strand (BBA), of Oshkosh, and his wife enjoyed serving on the set-up crew and retrieving footballs when they went out of bounds during play at the Titan football playoff game Thanksgiving weekend.

’77 Gerald Giese (BS) and ’88 (MSE), of Brillion, retired from teaching in 2011 but still serves as a substitute at Reedsville Elementary Middle School.

’81 Blaine Felsman (BS), of Oshkosh, was inducted into the George Martin Wrestling Hall of Fame for his accomplishments as a wrestling coach at Berlin High School.

 ’84 Michael Case (BS), of La Crescent, Minnesota, has worked at Gunderson Health in LaCrosse for 20 years as a surgeon. He works with fellow alumna Heidi Swanson ’14 (BSN), who is a surgical nurse at Gunderson Health.

’86 Dana (Shanklin) Hartel (BS), of Winneconne, celebrated 30 years as a percussionist with the Oshkosh Area Community Band in April.

’91 Angela (Root) Meidl Mosare (BBA), of Oregon, is the manager of applications and web development at UW-Extension’s Continuing Education, Outreach and E-Learning. She received the 2017 Academic Staff Council Award of Excellence for UW-Extension.

’92 Joey Leonard (BS), of Scandanavia, a human resources executive with more than 20 years of experience, acquired The H.S. Group. He was previously the executive vice president of human resources for Waupaca Foundry.

’93 Richard Gilgenbach (BS), of Fond du Lac, received a heart transplant in October at Aurora-St. Luke’s in Milwaukee.

’94 Lori (Hamann) Much (BSE) and ’98 (MS), of Sheboygan Falls, is in her 24th of year teaching Spanish in Sheboygan and has taken students on trips to Cost Rica, Mexico, Panama, Peru and Spain.

’09 Jason McKay (BM), of Burbank, California, has been with Music Tribe in e-commerce for two years and has been in the music business for 20 years.

’09 Dan Shafer (BA), Waukesha, is the digital managing editor at Seattle Magazine and Seattle Business Magazine.

’09 Stacey Shurpit (BBA), of Neshkoro, is the proud mom of three sons who all wrestle. She loves the sport and what it teaches youth about confidence, discipline and sportsmanship.

’10 Ger Xiong (BBA), of Fond du Lac, is a business development specialist at Advocap, where she assists low-income business owners in Fond du Lac, Winnebago and Green Lake counties with startup, expansion, technical assistance and business plans. She has kidney failure and is in search of a donor.

 ’12 Eric Balkman (BS), of Appleton, appeared on UWO’s Radio-TV-Film Pro Perspectives Panel during homecoming weekend. He is the media coordinator for Fantasy Football Players Championship.

’12 Samantha (Strong) Duenkel (BA), of Oshkosh, is the marketing content writer and social media manager for the National Association of Tax Professionals.

’12 Joshua Hughes (BS) and ’14 Allison (Kerwin) Hughes (BBA), of Waukesha, were married in Pewaukee in October. They met outside Peabody’s in 2014 and Joshua proposed in the exact same spot they met during Homecoming 2016.

’12 Lindsay Leinenkugel (BFA), of Chippewa Falls, is the Milwaukee marketing manager for Flowers for Dreams, an online flower delivery startup that donates 25 percent of its profits to local charities.

’12 Angela Paddock (BS), of Waukesha, is studying for a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Alverno College.

’12 Renee Schumacher (BFA), of Green Lake, is a K-12 art specialist in the Oshkosh Area School District. She is working towards a master’s degree at UWO.

’13 Christopher Laurishke (BSE) and ’14 Brittany (Walder) Laurishke (BSE), of Wauwatosa, were married Aug. 5, 2017, in Brookfield. Christopher teaches U.S history and world studies at Homestead High School, and Brittany is a special education teacher at Wilson Elementary School in Mequon.

’13 Sonja (Funnell) Oldenburg (BFA), of Menasha, will be featured in the Giving Gallery art show at the Northwestern Mutual building in Milwaukee in February 2018.

’14 Leah Christian (BSE), of Denver, Colorado, is teaching at Denver Discovery School as the math team lead. For the past three years, she has traveled around the country with the Academy of Best Practices and has taken students to Dublin, Costa Rica, London and Paris.

The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’56 Captain William King (BS), of Chester, Virginia, has six great-grandchildren and sings in a barbershop choir.

’66 Roger Korinek (BS), of Fond du Lac, retired from teaching at St. Mary’s Springs Academy after 45 years. He organizes educational tours to Washington, D.C.

’66 Gary Laabs (BS), of Hanover, Pennsylvania, recently got his bachelor’s of science in nursing from Western Governors University. He works as a hospital clinical staff nurse at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover. Nursing is his third career, following distinguished military and human resource careers.  He and his wife of more than 48 years have four grown children.

’67 James O’Laughlin (BBA), of Omaha, Nebraska, has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.   

’69 Norbert Hill (BS), and ’71 (MSE), of Oneida, coauthored a 2017 anthology titled The Great Vanishing Act: Blood Quantum and the Future of Native Nations. The book, which focuses on the Indian Reorganization Act of 1934, cites many authors and different types of literature from around the world. 

’75 Keith LaGraves (BS), of Wakefield, Massachusetts, retired from Russell, Brier & Co., a certified public accounting firm in Boston where he was a partner for 20 years.

’75 Patrick Pazdernik (BS), ’76 (BS) and ’81 (MS), of Jamestown, North Carolina, retired from Kimberly-Clark, after 28 years as director of global business development. He recently accepted a position with High Point University as an adjunct marketing instructor.

’78 Dwight Stefan (BA), of Hartford, worked as a substitute teacher for nine years, a daycare teacher, census worker, appliance repairman, auto mechanic and concrete construction worker.

’79 Daniel Radley (BME) and ’84 (MA), of Waupaca, retired in 2011 as band director and coach from the Prairie Farm School District. Radley moved to Waupaca where he plays tuba and conducts with the Wild Rose Community Band. He also ia a referee for middle school and high school sports in the Waupaca area.

’79 Charles Tank (BS), and ’84 (MA), of Dodgeville, released his third book, Letters to Lydia: Words of Advice from a Grandfather to his Grandchildren, inspired by his 18-month-old granddaughter, Lydia Alleman.    

’81 Karie (Eggebeen) Green (BME), of Green Bay, the artistic director for the Green Bay Girl Choir for the past 10 years,  has been part of the organization for 25 years.

’83 Barbara (Schmitz) Benish (BS), and ’92 (MBA), of Oshkosh, writes, edits and graphic designs for a variety of publications, including EAA AirVenture Today, Wild Ones Journal, Wisconsin Woodlands, Wisconsin Game Warden and Career Education Review.

’87 Lauren Polenske (BS), of Chicago, Illinois, celebrated 25 years as the artistic director for The Hale Theatre Company in Chicago. Her recent directing projects include Into the Woods, Smokey Joe’s Café and Les Miserables.  Polenske’s sons, Sean and Daniel Murphy, are both Eagle Scouts. In June, she will celebrate 23 years of marriage to Michael Murphy.

’88 Mark Bohn (BS), of Omro, has been a social studies teacher for 25 years at Omro High School. He also served for more than a decade in the military.

’88 Pat Delcore (BS), of Sturgeon Bay, retired after 15 years as the Southern Door High School softball coach. His teams earned two state tournament appearances, seven regional titles and multiple Packerland Conference championships.

’89 Mohd Yaziz Bin Mohn Isa (MBA), of Batu Caves, Malaysia, was conference manager at the 2017 Global Waqf Conference. Waqf is an Islamic endowment for wealth re-distribution with philanthropic objectives and acts of charity. He also managed the 2016 conference in Wales and the 2015 conference in Moscow.

’90 Mark Matzke (BS), of De Pere, was promoted to president of Humana. Matzke joined Humana in 1995 and has more than 25 years of healthcare insurance experience

’92 Melissa Anderson (BSE), and ’95 (MSE), of Clintonville, a teacher in the New London School District, recently received National Board Certification in the area of middle/generalist for ages seven to twelve.

’94 Mike Burman (BS), of Appleton, the owner of Focal Point Photography, primarily shoots interiors and architecture. 

’94 Mark Klossner (BS), of Iron Mountain, Michigan, is vice president of marketing for BOSS Snowplow, a manufacturer of snow and ice control equipment.

’95 Laura (Pueschner) Baehnman (BSN), of Weyauwega, is a nurse at ThedaCare Physicians-Wautoma.

’98 Jason Radtke (BBA), of New London, is the new owner of Summit Accounting & Tax, previously known as Smith & Radtke Accounting.

’99 Christine Feder (BSN), of Wisconsin Rapids, is a family nurse practitioner at Aspirus Riverview Clinics in Wisconsin Rapids and the Town of Rome.

’00 Jamie (Smith) Ceman (BBA), of Irvine, California, who recently resigned as assistant chancellor of University Marketing and Communications at UWO, is vice president of strategic marketing and communications at Chapman University in Orange, California.

’02 Mathew Schreiber (BS), of Lake Mills, is city director of planning and development.

’02 Kristin (Steckmesser) Stanley (BBA), of Onalaska, will be inducted in April into the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2018. She played basketball at UW Oshkosh and volleyball, basketball and softball at Two Rivers High School.

’04 Karen Carley (BSN), of Omro, is the health and nursing services director for the Omro School District.

’04 Justin Schneider (BBA), of Sheboygan Falls, was named a shareholder of Schenck SC, a full-service regional accounting and consulting firm. Schneider is a member of the firm’s manufacturing and distribution team and small and emerging business service line. He also is a retired member of the Air National Guard.

’06 Jennifer Rabas (BS), of Madison, graduated with a doctorate of education degree from the University of Missouri. She is an Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Drugs Program coordinator at the University of Wisconsin.

’06 Jesse Wiltzius (BSE), of Green Bay, is in his 12th year of teaching eighth-grade social studies at Bay View Middle School. Wiltzius also coaches high school baseball and middle school basketball and volleyball. He has a one-year-old son, Jaxon.

’07 Alisha (Lowman) Lowden-Sarauer (BSN), of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, is a board-certified nurse practitioner for the gastroenterology clinic at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

’10 Kylie (McGowan) Harwell (BS), of Oshkosh, is communications coordinator for the Appleton Area School District. In June, she married Tanner Harwell at Chattooga Belle Farm in South Carolina.

’10 Emily (Krug) Heideman (BA), of Fond du Lac, is the assistant director and information technology coordinator at the Waupaca Area Public Library. Heideman worked as a teen librarian for more than four years.

’12 Jessica Bedore (BA), of De Pere, manages public relations for Ariens Company’s whole goods business. She owns and operates Jessica Bedore Photography, a fine art photography studio focused on destination weddings.

’12 Gerald Chatman (BS), of Nashville, Tennessee, is the outside linebackers coach at Tennessee State University. His coaching experience includes UWO, Ball State University, Butler University, the Green Bay Packers, Texas A&M University, Elon University and the Denver Broncos.

’12 Elisa Derickson (BA), of Madison, and her husband, Daniel Krueger, have fostered 10 children between the ages of six months and 8 years since 2015.

’13 Trevor Uitenbroek (BA), of Kaukauna, is producer and editor for Action 2 News This Morning. Uitenbroek’s main role is putting together all of the on-air videos.

’14 Bryan Grulkowski (BA), of Alexandria, Virginia, graduated from law school and passed the Washington D.C. bar exam. Grulkowski is a justice adviser for the Department of State.

’14 Darren Steger (BBA), of Winter Garden, Florida, is a financial reporting analyst for Walt Disney Vacation Club.  He earned his Certified Public Accountant certification in 2017.

’16 Brenna McDermot (BA), of Fond du Lac, is an English and English as a Second Language candidate at UW-Madison, working towards a master’s degree in curriculum and instruction.

’16 Juliann Stanis (BSN), of Portland, Oregon, achieved the National Certification Corporation credential of Maternal Newborn Nurse. NCC is a not-for-profit organization that sponsors a national certification program in the obstetric, gynecologic and neonatal specialties. 

’17 Brock Saniter (BSE), of Thorp, teaches seventh-, eighth- and ninth-grade social studies in the Thorp School District.

’17 Sarah Smith (BS), of Shawano, is a licensed athletic trainer with ThedaCare Orthopedic Care, where she helps student-athletes properly care for their bodies.

’17 April Stern (BS), of Kewaskum, is enrolled at Carroll University, finishing her last semester of her didactic year.  She will graduate with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies in May 2019.

’64 Jerry Gonyo (BS), of Bloomington, Indiana, is the former UWO Arizona Alumni Chapter leader. Gonyo helped host an alumni reception prior to a Brewer spring training game in Phoenix, Arizona, in March. He is planning to start an alumni chapter in the greater Bloomington, Indiana area.

’64 Mary Anne (Graynor) Hill (BS) and ’71 (MSE), of Oneida, walked the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage across northern Spain with her daughter, Megan, to celebrate her 75th birthday.

’66 Gerald Whitburn (BS), of Wausau, was reappointed to the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents. Whitburn is a retired chief executive officer of Church Mutual Insurance Co. 

’68 Kenneth Zettel (BBA), of Tucson, Arizona, is active in his business, Auto Driveaway, at 76 years old.

’71 Lyle Wink (BS), of High View, West Virginia, enjoyed a distinguished career including numerous Federal Aviation Administration management positions, such as FAA Aviation safety inspector, United States member of the International Civil Aviation Organization Operations Panel and FAA Airspace Systems inspection pilot.

’72 Alan Mollerskov (BS), of Mount Pleasant, is celebrating a 45-year career with the Union Grove School District.

’76 James Benson (MSE), of Viroqua, a Marine veteran, went on the Freedom Honor Flight from La Crosse to Washington D.C. with his nephew, Brian Belot. Benson was employed by the Department of Defense and the U.S. Air Force as an education counselor through 1995.

’78 Sally (Frohman) Sroka (BS), of Wautoma, recently retired from the Waushara County Sheriff’s Office after 20 years as a 911 cispatcher and almost 12 years as a 911 supervisor.

’81 Donald Fass (BS), of Fort Atkinson, retired from the Madison Fire Department after 23 years of service as a firefighter/EMT.

’81 Michael Murphy (BBA), of Abilene, Texas, is the Abilene Regional Medical Center chief executive officer.  He has been in hospital administration for over 30 years. 

’85 Mary Booker (MS), of Pine River, received the Wisconsin Council for Exceptional Children’s Clarissa Hug Teacher of the Year Award. Booker is a speech and language pathologist, an innovator with the Early Childhood Program and the leader of the Autism Effectiveness Team in the Weyauwega-Fremont School District.

’86 Sandie Brick-Margelofsky (BS), of Dodgeville, is a senior development officer in the UW-Platteville College of Business, Industry, Life Sciences and Agriculture. Brick-Margelofsky created the UW-Platteville’s Center for Gender and Sexuality and LGBTQ and developed the Veteran Center and Non-Traditional Student Center.

’86 Anthony Ungerer (BS), of Merrill, earned a master’s degree in management at Cardinal Stritch University in 2011. Ungerer operates a FISH Window Cleaning franchise in central Wisconsin. He has three children.

’89 Craig Zastrow (BSN), and ’04 (MSN), of Wausau, is a new clinician at Ascension Medical Group Tomahawk Clinic. He enjoys spending time with his wife and two sons. 

’92 Tamara (Cook) Dever (BFA), of Austin, Texas, is celebrating 20 years at TLC Graphics, now TLC Book Designs. The company previously created designs for the UW Oshkosh TV station and Taylor Hall.

’93 Lisa (Wolfgram) Philipp (BFA), of Oshkosh, has worked for RR Donnelley, a Fortune 500 integrated communications company, for over 20 years. Philipp works on baby wipe packages, disinfecting wipe labels and various other label and bag designs.

’97 Troy Schoultz (BS), of Oshkosh, is a poet and lecturer at UW-Fox Valley and Fox Valley Technical College. Schoultz also is the editor of Fox Cry Review. He held a poetry reading for the Original Voice at the Coloma Hotel in March.

’99 Michael Frohna (MPA), of Sussex, is the president of Junior Achievement of Wisconsin.

’99 Tammy (Tank) Huebner (BSN), of Shawano, has been a surgical nurse with ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano for 20 years. Huebner created Wee Care Food Pack at Zion Lutheran Church, a program to provide food to families and children in need. She and Paul Huebner have been married 16 years and have three children.

’99 Jason Schreiber (BSE), Of Oconomowoc, a former Titan basketball player, hailed from Kickapoo High School in Viola. Schreiber is in his 10th year as principal at Oconomowoc’s Meadow View School

’01 Tim Cleary (BBA), of Middleton, is the executive vice president and partner at Ideal Builders. Cleary has over 14 years experience in the construction and real estate industry as a business adviser to firms throughout the Midwest.

’02 Blake Buchan (BS), of Brookfield, is an assistant professor in the Department of Pathology and associate director of clinical microbiology and molecular diagnostics at the Medical College of Wisconsin. His Ebola work led to Froedert and the Medical College of Wisconsin’s designation by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as a medical center capable of treating patients with Ebola disease.

’02 Shawn Robinson (BS), of Madison, was recently appointed to the International Dyslexia Association’s National Board of Directors.

’04 Alison (Cesnorar) Fett (BA) and ’07 (MS), of Oshkosh, started Tashi Deley, a talent development consulting firm in Oshkosh. Fett is the former assistant vice president of talent development at Verve, a Credit Union.

’04 Todd Schroeder (MBA), of Stevens Point, is a member of the Portage County Business Council’s board of directors.

’05 Paul Orlich (MSE), of Green Bay, is the Mishicot School District superintendent and high school principal. Previous to this appointment, Orlich served as high school principal and director of instruction for the district. He is a retired combat veteran of the 101st Airborne Division.

’05 Amie (Schaenzer) Rowland (BA), of Algonquin, Illinois, is an editor for Patch.com.

’09 Brandon Kirkland (BSE), of Neenah, has been the childcare services coordinator at the Neenah-Menasha YMCA for five years.

’09 Bethany Lerch (BA), of Oshkosh, traveled to India with 11 professional counseling peers in January. She is an independent writer and founder of “able to.”

’12 Christian Hess (MBA), of Appleton, has been named president and chief executive officer of Goodwill Industries of North Central Wisconsin. Hess was formerly vice president of market development and sales for ThedaCare.

’12 Jared Sanchez (BBA), of Oshkosh, and his wife, Samantha, welcomed their first child in August.

’13 Tracy Goetsch (BSE), of Aga, Japan, is teaching English as a foreign language to junior high and high school students at three schools in Japan. She enjoys sharing her culture and learning the students’ culture.

’13 Trent Henning (BS), of Monroe, is the executive director of the Green County Family YMCA. Henning has nine years of experience working with youth programs, coaching and building partnerships.

’13 Adam Wolf (BA), of Washington, D.C., currently works for Alliance for Peacebuilding, a civil society membership organization that brings together coalitions that advocate for peace-centered policies in the United States diplomacy, the United Nations, and throughout the world. Wolf also volunteers at several Model United Nations conferences.

 

’14 Briana (Agnello) Mermall (BA), of Menasha, married fellow alumnus Evan Mermall ’14 (BBA), in December. They met at UW Oshkosh.

’15 Anthony Snyder (MBA), of Appleton, is the president of the Appleton-Fox Cities Kiwanis Foundation. He also serves as the chief executive officer of the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board.

’17 Rachel Elliott (BS), of Brookfield, has joined PAK-RITE, Ltd., a manufacturing company and industry leader in the design and manufacture of custom containers for the medical and aerospace markets in Milwaukee. Elliott works in the company’s e-commerce division and will assist in a variety of marketing initiatives.

 ’17 Chris Meuer (BS), of Chilton, is the new recycling and hazardous waste coordinator for Calumet County. Meuer interned with the department last year as a UW Oshkosh environmental studies student.

 ’17 Rachel Roloff (BS), of Oshkosh, is a human resources specialist at VF Outdoor, an outdoor apparel manufacturing company. She is working towards her master’s degree in organizational change with an emphasis in human resources management.
