November 2016 Class Notes

The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’52 Gloria Wachholz and ’53 (EHS), of Oshkosh, taught kindergarten for 27 years in Oshkosh and three years in Port Washington.

’60 Alice (Mortimer) Kinley (BSE), of Oshkosh, celebrated her 100th birthday on Sept. 24. She taught 49 years, first in rural schools and then at New Holstein Public School.

’61 Charles Hannemann (EHS), of Palmetto Bay, Florida, visited Door Peninsula Winery. The building was originally Carlsville School, where Hannemann taught during his time as a rural school teacher.

’67 Helen Brandt (BS), of Lake Geneva, is the curator at Geneva Lake Museum.

’69 James Marshall (BS), of Germantown, is president and founder of Spectrum Investment Advisors in Mequon. The company was selected as Mequon’s 2015 Business of the Year by the Mequon/Thiensville Chamber of Commerence.

’71 Barbara Berg (BME), of Watertown, is the new pastor at London Moravian Church in Cambridge.

’71 Robert Tetzloff (BBA) and ’72 (MBA), of Rockford, Illinois, retired in July 2015 after 43 years in the aerospace industry serving in customer service contract functions.

’72 Patrick Higgins (BS), of New Providence, New Jersey, retired as vice president of operations at RP Bennett Custom Builders LLC.

’72 Nancy Pitzen (BS), of Fond du Lac, retired after 38 years with Fond du Lac County’s Child Support Agency. She received the Hall of Fame Award from the Wisconsin Child Support Association for her service to the association, Fond du Lac County and Wisconsin families.

’72 Thomas Sobocinski (BS), of Hales Corners, has worked in the healthcare industry for 50 years.

’75 Gary Beyer (BBA) and ’80 (MBA), of Oshkosh, presented his 182nd inspirational speech and authored two books. In 2008, he was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis, a rare muscle disease without a cure.

’75 Tim Schmid (BS), of Shawano, has been a partner with Aschenbrener, Woods, Schmid and Sloma, S.C. since 1981.

’76 Max Harrington (MSE), of Plainfield, has been supporting the Plainfield community and Waushara County with his wife, Pat, for more than 50 years. He taught special education for Tri-County Area schools.

’76 Jeanne (Womaski) Tondryk, of Oshkosh, reopened her special event company in Oshkosh and produced the Time of Your Life Senior Expo in October at the Oshkosh Convention Center.

’76 James Zeirke (BS), of Sussex, recently returned from his 22nd mission trip to eastern Kentucky with the Christian Appalachian Project (CAP). He has been serving with CAP for 17 years, building and repairing homes in impoverished areas of the U.S.

’78 Patricia Popke (BS), of New London, works part-time at Familiar Grounds coffee and gift shop in New London. She also gives private singing lessons.

’79 Sharon Mullarkey (BBA), of Mansfield, Texas, was awarded a patent in 2015 as the co-inventor of hand/foot rest, an ergonomic tool made in the U.S. It is used by beauty and medical professionals for manicures, pedicures, massage therapy and podiatry.

’80 Russ Van Gompel (BBA), of Eau Claire, will serve as Mondovi’s interim city administrator.

’80 Greg Stahl (BS), of Centennial, Colorado, retired as patrol division commander from the Auraria Police Department in Denver, Colorado, after 31 years of service.

’85 Mark Miller (BS), of Appleton, was inducted into Xavier High School’s Hall of Fame for success as a high school sports writer, contributions to the community, leadership and commitment to the Catholic faith. He is the boys’ basketball editor for WisSports.net.

’87 Cathy Allard (BS), of Kalispell, Montana, is a career adviser at Flathead Valley Community College in Kalispell.

’87 Richard Pues (BBA), of Milwaukee, is a full-time lecturer at UW-Whitewater in supply chain management. He has worked as a part-time lecturer there since 2005.

’88 David Price (LS), of Bemidji, Minnesota, is a wildlife biologist at Red Lake Band of Chippewa Indians. He primarily collars wolves to collect data on habitat use, pack numbers, number of packs, pack interactions and dispersal events of individuals.

’89 Mark Voight (BS), of Auburndale, Florida, is working as a probation officer for the state of Florida.

’91 Jane (Morgan) Gennerman (BSE), of Menomonee Falls, was inducted into Westfield High School’s 2016 Athletic Hall of Fame, where she was a three-sport athlete. As a softball player at UW Oshkosh, she earned NCAA Division III All-America honors as a pitcher and competed in the 1988 Division III College World Series.

’91 Jeff Matczak (BSE), of Kaukauna, has been selected as the recipient of the 2015-2016 National Federation of High School Associations Wrestling Coach of the Year Award for Wisconsin.

’91 Joe Verdegan (BS), of Green Bay, wrote his second book “Wisconsin International Raceway: Where The Big Ones Run!” to be released on Dec. 3. It focuses on the history of the race track in Kaukauna. His first book “Life In The Past Lane” is about the history of stock car racing in northeastern Wisconsin from 1950 to 1980.

’92 David Penepent (BS), of Norwood, New York, is the director and assistant professor of the Funeral Services Administration Program at the State University of New York at Canton. In January he received a doctorate in management from Walden University.

’93 Joy Merbach (BS), of Hilbert, is a supervisor with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

’94 Karen Larsen (BFA), of Lake Geneva, is driving for Uber as a part-time job.

’01 Melissa Cummings (BSE), of Hortonville, is a new fifth-grade teacher at Hortonville Middle School. She has nine years of experience with the Green Bay Public Schools.

’05 Michael Raymond (BSN) and ’15 (MSN), of Oshkosh, is president and multimedia journalist at Imagine Road Production in Oshkosh. He provides legacy and documentary video for individuals, families and organizations.

’08 Teresa Chouinard (BSN), of Beaver Dam, is a nurse practitioner at Agnesian Work and Wellness at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

’08 Jessica (Harrington) Johnson (BS) and ’14 (MSW), of Neenah, is the service coordinator at Lutheran Social Services in Neenah.

’12 Elisa Menzer (BS), of Sheboygan, married Kevin Menzer ’11 (BS) on July 5, 2014.

’12 Maren Raab (BS), of Marshfield, graduated from veterinary school in May and works as an associate veterinarian at Marshfield Veterinary Service.

’13 Grace Hennig (BA), of New Ulm, Minnesota, co-founded a new chamber music series called Summit Avenue Music. Performers at the inaugural concert included UWO music faculty Eli Kalman, Bruce Atwell and Yuliya Smeed.

’14 Tina Truehart (BS), of Appleton, is a property manager for Appleton Housing Authority’s Oneida Heights affordable living complex.

’15 Carley Gussert (BSE), of Wrightstown, is a first-grade teacher at Wrightstown Elementary.

’71 Gary Haltaufderheide (BBA), of Sun Prairie, is enjoying retirement by playing tennis and pickleball and spending time with family and friends.

’71 Stephen Jacoby (EHS), of West Allis, has been enjoying retirement for 11 years, dancing to rock and roll bands in Milwaukee.

’73 Randy Ninmer (EHS), of Monroe, retired after 43 years of teaching at Northside Elementary School in Monroe.

’73 Carl Wegner (BBA), of West Bend, has run Wegner and Associates, an executive recruiting firm, for 38 years. He met his wife ’73 Marlene Wegner (BBA) in accounting classes at UW Oshkosh and their daughters graduated from UWO in nursing.

’73 Jon Hermanson (BS) and ’84 (MBA), of Knoxville, Tennessee, is head of product development at Albahealth. He was awarded his fifth patent on behalf of the company. He is an adjunct professor of management in interdisciplinary studies at Tennessee Technical University and chair of the trustees at First Christian Church in Knoxville.

’81 Rick Gigot (BS), of Sturgeon Bay, joined the staff of Jim Olson Motors of Door County. He will help customers with purchasing and leasing new or used vehicles.

’82 Wayne Gerharz (BS), of Oshkosh, is in his 30th year teaching health education and coaching baseball at Oshkosh West High School. He coached JV football for 35 years before retiring from that this fall. He was inducted into the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame in February 2016.

’83 Cheryl Neill (BSN), of Cedar Falls, Iowa, has been the director of Home Health/Home Medical for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare for 27 years in Waterloo, Iowa. She will be retiring in 2017.

’89 Doug Kufalk (BS), of Wisconsin Rapids, is an algebra and geometry teacher at Reedsville High School.

’92 Vicky Siegel (BFA), of Menasha, received Employee of the Year 2015-2016 for elementary teaching in the Kaukauna Area School District. She has taught elementary art for 25 years.

’97 Terry McHugh (BA), of Edgerton, will be replacing the Village of Kroenwetter’s Police Chief Dan Joling, who is retiring in December.

’06 Tyler Christensen (BA), of Scottsdale, Arizona, wrote the movie “House of Purgatory,” which was filmed in Green Bay, about four teenagers who visit a haunted house on Halloween night.

’06 Lauren Young (BSE), of Driggs, Idaho, is the director of curriculum, instruction and assessment at Teton School District 401 in Driggs, Idaho.

’09 Tiffany King (BSN) and ’16 (DNP), of Marshfield, is a nurse practitioner at Ministry Medical Group in the family medicine group.

’10 Hannah Feistel (BBA), of Menasha, is a human resources specialist for Northstar Cooperative Inc.

’10 Zachary Peterson (COLS), of Beloit, a violinist, presented a concert with Bill Cunningham in November at the River of Life United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago from 2014 to 2016.

’12 Jonathan Dudzinski (BBA), of Pickett, a financial analyst, spoke to students at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point in November about planning their financial future to lessen debt.

’16 Cody Krupp (BS), of Palm Springs, California, is a weekend sports anchor at KESQ News Channel 3 and CBS Local 2.

February 2017 Class Notes

The following Class Notes were received recently in the UW Oshkosh Alumni Office.

’46 Lois (Lentz) Haskamp (BA), of Oshkosh, has traveled to all seven continents with her husband, Jack.

’53 Roger Bauernfeind (BS), of Abilene, Texas, retired at age 80 after working as a science teacher and principal at three junior high schools and a high school before becoming an educational evaluator.

’53 Richard Smith (BS), of Bradenton, Florida, published “Once Upon A Christmas.”  The book tells 11 tales drawn from his own life experiences growing up in small-town Wisconsin, working as a high school teacher and college professor, and eventually retiring to Florida.

’69 John Matravers (BBA), of Oconto, sold his hardware, television and appliance, power center and furniture businesses and six properties in downtown Oconto and is moving toward retirement.

’70 Orphie (Jeske) Hamilton (BS), of Neenah, retired from substitute teaching for the Neenah School District.  She is now a volunteer in the Rally Round Reading program.

’70 Carol Klitzke (BA), of Maple Grove, Minnesota, retired after a 42-year career in speech pathology, providing specialty therapy services to professional voice users.

’71 Philip Aggen (BA), of Germantown, has been retired for two years and is enjoying his free time.

’71 Sue Ellyn (Moore) Boers (BA), of Ontonagon, Michigan, has retired to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.

’71 Terence Feldman Davis (BS), of Palm Desert, California, is celebrating 25 years since founding Great Music Inc.  He has since received a master’s degree in grant writing and nonprofits (social entrepreneurship.)  He now writes grants and gives back by helping organizations raise funds for good causes.

’71 Jim Floryance (BS), of Milwaukee, is in his third year of retirement after a 45-year career as a sales representative in the beverage industry.

’71 Nancy Salzsieder (BA), of Oshkosh, is retired after a 30 year career as a preschool teacher and remains active in her church.

’71 Alice (Beyerl) Sturzl (BS), of Laona, is completing 31 years as Forest County library president. She retired from the public library system in 2011 but continues to serve as a substitute librarian at the Edith Evans Community Library.

’72 Barbara Rasmussen (BS), of Sturtevant, retired after teaching 22 years at the Racine Correctional Institution.

’73 Dave Forman (BS), of Rockville, Maryland, marked 20 years at NBC News in Washington, D.C., and recently finished working on the presidential election as part of the NBC News Political Unit.

’76 Donald Dorn (BBA), of Verona, retired in 2011, but is working part time as a consultant for CGC Inc.

’78 Cynthia Johnson (MS), of Bailey’s Harbor, published two books of poetry: “A Theophany, Please” in 1995 and “The Way Crows Really Fly” in 2004. She recently did a poetry reading in Door County.

’79 Kim Berghs (BS), of North Fort Myers, Florida, is employed as the volunteer center manager at United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades and Okeechobee counties.

’79 Leanne Buttke (BBA), of West Allis, celebrated her 35 year with Sattell, Johnson, Appel and Co., S.C.  In January, she became president of the Menomonee Falls Chamber of Commerce.

’79 Lynne (Gawinski) Tennie (BAE/BS) and ’79 John Tennie (BBA), of Green Bay, met at UWO and all of their children have attended UW Oshkosh as well.

’81 Alan Schlies (BS), of Green Bay, retired from teaching in June 2015 and will be inducted into the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in March.

’81 Paul Spiegel (MS), of Oshkosh, is the retired director of public health for the City of Oshkosh.

’82 Jennifer (Trewyn) Hartlaub (BSN), of Shorewood, was recently appointed director of advanced practice at Aurora Health Care.  She also is a nurse practitioner at Aurora Sinai Family Care Center.

’85 Tina (Kempf) Bettin (BS), (’89 MSN), of Marion, was elected as a Wisconsin state representative to the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).

’85 William Hatch (BBA), of Eden, celebrated 40 years of business with Smith and Hatch Insurance of Kewaskum and Eden.

’85 Karen (Holmseth) Livingood (BS), of Oshkosh, taught art to home schooled children.

’86 Rosemary (Hocutt) DesIsles (BS), of Sturgeon Bay, retired but continues to be a substitute teacher’s aide and teaches art to home schooled children.

’88 Ann Marie Luker (BS), of Oshkosh, is retired from teaching third grade, but she continues to substitute teach at age 82.

’89 Jill (Fuhrmann) Preissner (BS), of Kiel, has joined Premier Properties Realty as a sales executive.

’90 Dorothy Erdmann (MSN), of Marinette, retired as president and CEO of ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano.

’92 Melissa (Kriewaldt) Anderson (BSE), ’95 (MSE), of Clintonville, has been teaching for the New London School District for more than 20 years.  She is working to become a national board certified teacher.

’94 Karla Huston (BSE), ’03 (MA), of Appleton, will serve as the state’s poet laureate for 2017-2018. Huston is the author of eight chapbooks of poems and a full collection of poems titled “A Theory of Lipstick.”  This collection won the Pushcart Prize in 2011 and also earned her an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Wisconsin Library Association.

’94 Carrie (Leibham) Riley (MSN), of Appleton, has been named director of transitions of care for ThedaCare Regional Medical Center.

’97 Holly (Mainz) Andrews (BSE), of Fort Atkinson, was named Rotary Educator of the Month for November 2016.  She teaches fifth grade at Barrie Elementary School in Fort Atkinson and has been with the district for 17 years.

’97 Tami Moffat-Keenlance (BSN), of Ripon, has been named administrator at Ripon Hospital.

’98 Carol Kaufmann (BA), of Oshkosh, is starting a new business, Carol’s Country Tours.  She has been planning trips as a volunteer through the Oshkosh Senior Center for almost 10 years.

’00 Charles Butler (BBA), of Appleton, has been named director of boys basketball for the Wisconsin Blaze, a Christian-based Amateur Athletic Union basketball organization.

’01 Joy (Mikolajczak) Duce (BBA), of Naperville, Illinois, has been promoted to partner by the professional services firm, Sikich LLP.  She will lead the firm’s human resources and consulting practice.

’01 Ryan Valentine (BBA), of Neenah, has been promoted to president and chief financial officer by Fiduciary Partners, Inc.

’02 Joanna (Straub) Bannon (BS), of Port Washington, has been named principal of Dunwiddie Elementary School.

’04 Susan VanEngen (BSE), of Deland, Florida, was named 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year at Manatee Cove Elementary School in Orange City, Florida.

’06 Shaheda Govani (BS), of Oshkosh, was one of just three Wisconsin dentists to be inducted into the American College of Dentists in 2016.

’10 Amanda Treinen (BSW), of Madison, is a medical social worker at UnityPoint Health-Meriter Hospital.

’11 Darlene Herrmann (BBA), of Madison, has been hired by Van Holten’s of Waterloo as Midwest regional sales manager.

’12 Will Brydon (BSE), of Oshkosh, has been awarded the 2016 Thirty-Under-Thirty award for up-and-coming volleyball coaching talent by the American Volleyball Coaches Association.  He is the Winneconne High School varsity head volleyball coach.

’14 McKenzie Kelly (BSE), of New Richmond, is an elementary teacher and assistant varsity cross-country coach for New Richmond High School.

’14 Chad Leviner (BS), of Mukwonago, has been named head wrestling coach for the Adams-Friendship Green Devils.  He also is a substitute teacher in the district.

’15 Matt Onstad (BM), of Madison, has been appointed primary trumpet in the Quad City Symphony Orchestra.  He will be featured in the Boehm Trumpet Concerto.

’15 Sharayah Preman (MS), of Neenah, has been named clinical research monitor and human protections administrator for Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology.

’74 Eugene P. Trochinski (BS), of Winter Park, Florida, retired after serving as principal at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.

’75 Gene Stangel (BBA), of Manitowoc, has worked as an accountant for 43 years and plans to retire in 2018.

’76 David Wilfert (BBA), of Two Rivers, received the 2017 Chamber’s Small Business of the Year award.

’77 Leanne (Bader) Snell (MSE), of Green Bay, retired after working as a school counselor from the Ashwaubenon School District.

’63 Sharon J. (Satori) Kierstein, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, retired in 2004 after teaching 45 years in Jefferson County schools in Denver, Colorado and became an artist.

’63 James L. Scheuermann (BS), of Lakeville, Minnesota, retired in 2003 from Kimberly-Clark Corp. He enjoys traveling and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

’69 David Gillingham (BME), (’77 MST), of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, works at Central Michigan University. He will be returning to campus to meet with student musicians who will perform a few of Gillingham’s works for wind ensemble and percussion ensemble.

’69 Mary (Thompson) Saatkamp (BS), of Apache Junction, Arizona, is retired and travels full-time with her husband, Stuart, across the country in their RV and they volunteer at state parks.

’74 Elizabeth M. Bauer (BS), of Durand, retired in 2014 from St. Anthony Elementary.

’74 Gene Tenuta (BS), of Ponte Vedra, Florida, retired in 1995 as a U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel.

’75 Linda (Hall) Gillingham (BM), (’76 BME), of Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, works at Central Michigan University and will be returning to UW Oshkosh to meet up with former piano professor James Kohn for a piano lesson.

’78 Rev. Sue Sheffer-Meyer (BA), of Fond du Lac, who is a pastor at Immanuel-Trinity Lutheran Church, is celebrating her 35th anniversary of Ordination.

’80 Susan (Manke) Miller (BS), of Lodi, is completing her 15th year on the Lodi School Board and currently serves as president.

’83 Barry Martzahl (BBA), of Green Bay, is employed at Graystone Consulting as a managing director. In March, he was named to the Barron’s list of the top 1,200 financial advisers in America for the sixth consecutive year.

’84 Jacqueline (Doherty) Belken (BSN), of Janesville, is a registered nurse for the Delavan-Darien School District. She traveled with the Badger Honor Flight as part of the medical crew.

’90 Kim Quinnell (BS), of Stanley, has been teaching kindergarten for 27 years in Thorp and is very involved in the community.

’97 Brad Hartwig (BS), of Middleton, works for Madison National Life Insurance as a medical analyst/physician assistant. He graduated from Yale University School of Medicine’s Physician Associate Program in 1999 and is enrolled in the University of Nebraska-Kearney MS in biology online program.

’98 Catherine Caspary (BSN) and ’03 (MSN), of Lomira, completed her doctor of nursing practice degree at Saint Louis University in 2016.

’00 Garth Wicinsky (MBA), of Winneconne, has been promoted to senior vice president and chief administrative officer at SECURA Insurance.

’02 Ron Jochimsen (MBA), of Appleton, retired from the Boldt Company.

’06 Julie Holcomb (MBA), of Neenah, joined Oshkosh Door Company as human resource manager.

’08 Kiel Zillmer (LS), of Mukwonago, has joined the Milwaukee office of Hall, Render, Killian, Heath and Lyman, the largest healthcare-focused law firm in the U.S., as an attorney.

’10 Angela Savides (MSE), of Appleton, is a mental health/substance abuse therapist for Affinity Health System.

’10 Marc Vandenhouten (BSE), of Brussels, is a fifth-grade teacher at Southern Door.

’11 Kylie Hodges (BA), of West Hollywood, California, works in the Los Angeles area for multiple entertainment news outlets. She recently covered an Academy Awards after party.

’11 Natalee (Kamiskie) Stafford (BA), of West Valley City, Utah, was recently married and is a senior volunteer services specialist for the American Red Cross in the Utah and Nevada region.

’12 Thomas Bricco (BSE), of New York, New York, who completed his master’s program at New York Universiy’s Steinhardt Graduate School in 2014, is employed as a CRM manager at Transportation Alternatives.

’14 John McCann (LS), of Elroy, the high jump state record holder and an All-American in high jump from UW Oshkosh, will help coach the New Lisbon Rockets track and field team this season.

’69 Robert Keller (BS), of Kaukauna, J. J. Keller and Associates Inc. chairman and  J. J. Keller Foundation Inc. president, will be inducted to the Neenah Joint School District Hall of Fame in September.

’72 Richard Schroeder (BS), of Phoenix, Arizona, is a major league baseball scout for the Texas Rangers. He recently served as toastmaster of the Waterloo High School alumni banquet.

’76 and ’77 Christine (Dieck) Hillegas (BS), of Neenah, retired from her career in clinical laboratory science and recently volunteered with From Houses to Homes in Guatemala.

’76 Jim Rath (BS), of Sherwood, retired as village president of Sherwood.

’76 Richard Van Dyke (BS), of Cincinnati, Ohio, was honored as a foundation fellow in March at the Music Teachers National Association Conference in Maryland.

’82 Andy Hopfensperger (BS), of Clintonville, retired in April from the Clintonville Police Department, after serving the city for nearly 32 years.

’87 Mike Heller (BS), of Waunakee, hosts his own sports talk show, the Mike Heller Show. It airs on iHeartRadio’s The Big 1070.

’88 Kristofor Brown (BS), of Los Angeles, California, is a successful screenwriter, producer and director. He was the voice director, head writer and co-producer for MTV’s “Beavis and Butthead.” Most recently he was an executive producer and a director for five episodes of the Disney XD show “Kirby Buckets.”

’91 Jacqueline (Dier) Toepfer (MBA), of Chicago, Illinois,  a senior product manager of iManage, married Capt. Kurt Bullard in January.

’92 Mary Downs (MS) and 94 MSE, of Appleton, executive director of the Fox Valley Technical College Foundation, received the Janet Berry Volunteer of the Year award for exemplary volunteerism that has made the Fox Cities a better place to live.

’93 Lori Kaye Lodes (BS), of DePere, works for the Green Bay Water Utility as communications director.

’96 Jennifer Eisenbart (BA), of Burlington, is the new lifestyles and special section editor for the Daily Jefferson County Union in Fort Akinson.

’96 Tanya Lange (BSE), (’03 MSE), of Appleton, has been named associate principal in the Hortonville Area School District for the 2017-2018 school year.

’97 David McLaren (BA), (’97 BSE), of Antioch, Illinois, will be inducted into the Neenah Joint School District Hall of Fame. He has taught English and coached track and field at Zion-Benton High School in Illinois for 20 years. At UW Oshkosh, he set an NCAA Division III record and won two national titles in shot put.

’02 Michael Reuter (BS), of Janesville, is the executive director of the Rock County Historical Society.

’04 Lee Haugen (BS), of Valencia, California, is a film editor in Los Angeles and recently edited the “Lost City of Z,” which was filmed in Ireland and the rain forests of Columbia.

’04 Jennifer (Calnin) Sommers (BSE), (’10 MSE), of Appleton, was named principal of Lannoye Elementary School in the Pulaski School District.

’08 Thomas Braun (MS), of Manitowoc, works at Acuity’s Corporate Headquarters and has been promoted to general manager of information systems.

’10 Shane Arman (BA), of Chicago, Illinois, is employed at Burns Entertainment & Sports as the senior director of agency relationships and business development.

’10 Michael Chastain (BSN), of Peachtree City, Georgia, graduated from Georgetown University in 2013 with a masters in nurse anesthesia and works as a certified registered nurse anesthetist.

’12 Steven Winker (BA), of West Bend, and wife Kaitlin, love the game of baseball and the Milwaukee Brewers so much that they had Bernie Brewer at their wedding and make Opening Day an annual family tradition.

’13 Scott Mittelstadt (MPA), of Mayville, has been named operations captain for the Dodge County Sheriff’s Department.

’15 Michelle (Murray) Mersberger (BBA), of Waunakee, has been promoted to a producing financial adviser within Mersberger Financial Group Inc.

’16 Miranda Busch (BBA), of Algoma, is a financial representative at Thrivent Financial in Allouez.

’16 Matt Herrbold (BSE), of Waupaca, is a social studies teacher at Tigerton High School.

’16 Joshua Preiss (BBA), of New Berlin, is a research analyst at Mersberger Financial Group and recently obtained his Series 7 and Series 66 securities registration.

’68 William Heins (BS) and ’76 (MSE), of Winchester, is active in Lion’s Club and has six new grandchildren.

’72 Samuel Cargile (BS) and ’73 (MSE), of Belton, South Carolina, retired after 15 years as vice president and senior adviser to the chief executive officer of the Lumina Foundation.  He is relocating to Cape Town, South Africa.

’75 Janice (Ahrens) John (BS), of Beaverton, Oregon, was the keynote speaker for the annual Women of Kaiser Permanente Breakfast in 2016.  Her address was “Resilience: A Year-long Journey through Breast Cancer.”

’75 Gary Beyer (BBA) and ’80 (MBA), of Oshkosh, has released his third book, When the Time is Right. In 2008, he was diagnosed with Inclusion Body Myositis (IBM), a rare muscle disease with no cure.

’76 Craig Cady (BS) and ’87 (MS), of Lincoln, Illinois, director of the stem cell research lab and co-director of the neuroscience minor program at Bradley University, presented ovarian cancer stem cell research to the Pacific Association of Pediatric Surgeons in May.

’79 Robert Fale (BSN), of Fond du Lac, is interim president of Silver Lake College.

’79 Joseph Johnson Jr. (BS), of San Diego, California, is the College of Education dean at San Diego State University.  His new book, Leadership in American’s Best Urban Schools, describes findings from 117 outstanding urban schools.

’80 John Rocheleau (BS) and ’96 (MPA), of Green Bay, retired in March after a 37-year career in healthcare.

’85 Sandra (Wilfrath) Hoefert (BS), of Milwaukee, is the deputy director for the Washington County Human Services Department.

’86 Michael Karns (BFA), of Lakehead, California, founded Boundary Waters Screen Printing in Redding, California, in 2011. He is a full-time artist doing logo design.

’90 Trevy McDonald (BA), of Durham, North Carolina, is the 2017 recipient of the David Brinkley Teaching Excellence Award at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Media and Journalism, where she is an assistant professor.

’92 Tamara (Cook) Dever (BFA), of Austin, Texas, is the owner and creative director of TLC Graphics. Her company received three national awards for their publishing guide and journal, My Publishing Journey.

’92 Denise Martinez (MSE), of Ripon, the operations leader for Financial and Information Services Inc. (FISC), completed the Nonprofit Leadership Initiative through the Leadership Institute of the Fox Valley.

’95 Joseph Metzen (BFA), of Manitowoc, has joined the board of directors of Shady Lane Inc. He is the associate executive director of the Manitowoc-Two Rivers YMCA.

’01 Ryan Valentine (BBA), of Neenah, was promoted to vice president and chief financial officer of Fiduciary Partners Inc.

’02 Corey Baumgartner (BSE) and ’05 (MS), of Kaukauna, former principal at Kiel High School, was the school’s 2017 commencement speaker.  He currently serves as the high school principal at Kaukauna.

’02 Adam Piette (BBA), of Appleton, is a commercial lines underwriting manager at Integrity Insurance.

’04 Cynthia Pressnell (BSN), of Fitchburg, has traveled to Bolivia, Haiti and Thailand  on medical missions.

’05 Allison (Dobie) Berryman (BME), of Vail, Arizona, is a stay-at-home mom who is homeschooling her second grader.

’05 Heidi Faris (BS), of Oakdale, Minnesota, has been working in the environmental education field, spending 10 years in zoos.  Recently, she transitioned to teaching early childhood in a nature preschool.

’06 Rosangela Berbert (MSE), of Oshkosh, is the executive director of Samaritan Counseling Center of the Fox Valley. She completed the Nonprofit Leadership Initiative through the Leadership Institute of the Fox Valley.

’10 Joel Stadler (MBA), of Neenah, is a manager at Schenck SC in Appleton.

’12 Aaron Robinson (BS), of Winneconne, graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health with a doctor of medicine and master of public health degrees with a focus on emergency medicine.

’13 Scott Mittelstadt (MPA), of Mayville, is the new operations captain for the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

’13 Samantha Stauber Schmelling (MBA), of Rhinelander, is the accounting manager at Volm Companies in Antigo and was the guest speaker at Laona High School’s graduation.

’14 Charlene Reierson (BSN), of Oshkosh, a special care nursery nurse at Mercy Medical Center, had her first child last December.

’14 Elizabeth Rothe (BA, BSN), of Green Bay, is a registered nurse at St. Mary’s Hospital.  She met some of her best friends at UWO.

’14 Matthew Wolfert (BSE), of Grand Chute, joined the Peace Corps and volunteered in South Africa for 27 months after graduation.  He taught English and math to children grades four through nine.

’15 Cassandra Trott (BSE), of Random Lake, is a special education teacher at Random Lake Middle School.

’16 Elizabeth Duffey (BA), of McFarland, is a hot dogger, one of 12 college graduates who drive six Oscar Mayer Wienermobiles across the United States for a one-year term. She has traveled to 28 states.

’64 Marie (Schnitzler) Peterson (BME), of Escanaba, Michigan, retired 12 years ago as director of music at her parish.  She returns as a substitute pianist a few times each month and serves as a volunteer accompanist for the local theater’s spring musicals.

’66 Beth Ziarnik (BS) and ’69 (BS), of Oshkosh, won the Selah Award for Fiction: First Novel at the Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference for her book Her Deadly Inheritance.

’68 William Heins (BS) and ’76 (MSE), of Winchester, and his wife Jan are retired from teaching.  He also worked 20 years as an American Express financial adviser in Fond du Lac.

’68 Margaret “Maggie” Jones (BSSE) and ’71 Joseph Jones (BS), of Iola, received Wisconsin’s Family-Owned Small Business Award for 2017 from the Small Business Association.  They have owned Jones Publishing Inc. of Iola for more than 30 years.

’70 Carol (Alpert) O’Neil (BSE), of Johnson Creek, who has been retired for eight years, serves on 10 boards and is a professional volunteer.

’71 Patricia Jones (BS) and ’79 (MSE), of Arkdale, is retiring after more than 30 years in education.  She served the last 16 years as principal of Bonduel Elementary School.

’72 Don Nielson (MSE), of Racine, was inducted into the Racine Park High School Hall of Fame. His career in education was spent as a guidance counselor, where he worked specifically with students who had truancy issues and credit deficiencies.  He recently served 11 years on the Racine Unified School Board.

’72 Linda Rondeau (BA), of Phoenix, Arizona, retired after 18 years with The Tech Group in Tempe, Arizona.  She is looking forward to a trip to Australia with fellow UWO grad, Donna Schober’72 (BS).

’73 Pat Dobberke
(MST), of Appleton, has been an active painter and teacher for 16 years. Coventry Glassworks & Gallery in Appleton will present “Star Light: A series of celestial paintings by Pat Dobberke” through July 17. Her abstracts in oil are inspired by the Hubble Space Telescope.

’75 Janet Perry (BS) and ’76 (MBA), of Moore, Oklahoma, is celebrating 12 years of employment at the Oklahoma City Community College, where she is the institutional effectiveness director.  She and her husband Terry have been married for 34 years.

(BBA), of Two Rivers, and his wife Teri own Wilfert Farms, a fresh vegetable and produce farm, which celebrates 140 years in 2017. Wilfert Farms was named Manitowoc Chamber’s 2016 Small Business of the Year.

’77 Paul Swanson (B), of Oshkosh, is the 62nd president of the State Bar of Wisconsin.  He has a tenure of nearly 40 years in law practice.  He has served in numerous State Bar leadership roles, including State Bar treasurer, chair of the Board of Governors and various committee positions.

’79 Dionne (Kagerbauer) Kelm (BAE), of Watertown, has published her first book in her Grandma Hearts Series, Hearts: Bedtime!  These picture books explore the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren.

’80 Karla Wynboom Blair (BBA), of Kaukauna, will help lead the 81st Kaukauna High School Alumni Rally. She is retired after a 37-year career at Schenck, where she became the first female shareholder in 1988.

’83 Steven Fude (BBA), of Canton, Michigan, is the planning and logistics director for Tenneco in Monroe, Michigan.

’84 Frank Cumberbatch (BBA), of Milwaukee, is the project manager for Badger Philanthropies Inc., where he prioritizes hiring and developing African American workers and companies.

’84 David Kelly (BS), of Alpharetta, Georgia, is a professional motivational speaker, author and trainer. He has taken part in more than 300 professional speaking engagements.

’88 Dan Schmidt (BS) and ’88 Angie Schmidt (BS), of Lake Geneva, have two sons at UW Oshkosh.  Joshua graduated in 2017, and Braden will graduate in 2018.

(BBA), of Granton, will host the annual Granton FFA Alumni breakfast at Schilling Farms.

’92 Kathy (Hoffman) Fandrey (BBA), of Menasha, is vice president of administration and human resources at BLC Community Bank.

’92 Ron Lindberg (BSE), of Appleton, has been performing as a professional magician and stage hypnotist since 1977.  He hosted Rondini’s Weird Science Show at the Abbotsford Public Library in June.

’97 Tammy (Bauer) Rowlands (BBA), of Omro, was recently promoted to compliance analyst at Thomson Reuters, where she has been employed for 17 years.  She is the mother of two children, ages 9 and 12.

’97 Amy (Goebel) Thomas (BBA), of Brownsville, works for Grande Cheese Company in Fond du Lac.  She has been there for 17 years in the accounting and human resource departments.

’98 Chad Bauer (BBA), of Somerset, is a financial adviser with Edward Jones and opened a new office in Somerset.  He received the 2016 Ambassador of the Year Award from the Somerset Chamber of Commerce.

’98 Tammy Laborde (MPA), of New Berlin, is the finance director and economic development director for the City of Stoughton.  She was previously the City of Pewaukee’s administrator for nearly a decade.

’98 Kelly (Risner) Heroux (BBA), of Peshtigo, was promoted to president and CEO of Peshtigo National Bank.  She joined the bank in 2004 and has 25 years of banking experience.

’99 Travis Pamenter (BA), of Universal City, Texas, is currently the School of Medical Logistics director at the U.S. Army Medical Department Center in San Antonio, Texas.  He is a lieutenant colonel in the Army.

’00 Corrin Spiegel (BS), of Davenport, Iowa, was inducted into the Tigerton High School Hall of Fame at the 2017 commencement ceremony.  She is the city administrator for Davenport, Iowa.

’01 Nadalie Walsh (BS), of Logan, Utah, has been named head coach of the Illinois Fighting Illini women’s gymnastics program. Previously, she guided the Utah State Aggies to four consecutive NCAA Regional appearances.

’03 April (Williams) Dzierzewski (BA), of Waukesha, is expecting her second child, a son, in July.  She has a daughter and has been married for three years.

’04 Kayte Kaminski (BA), of Bozeman, Montana, is finishing up her doctorate in adult and higher education administration and working on a project designed to spread compassion through education and art.

’04 Allan Stockinger (BS), of Evansville, Indiana, earned a master of science in management degree at Brescia University in Owensboro, Kentucky. He is an analytical chemist at Bioanalytical Systems, Inc.

’05 David Cords (BS), of Canton, Georgia, accepted a promotion with FedEx, which took him from Toledo, Ohio, to Kennesaw, Georgia.  He and his wife welcomed their third son in May.

’06 Megan Lindsey-Schlimm (BA), of Larsen, has been asked by the Institute for Organization Management to serve as class adviser. She is the institute’s director of marketing and events.

’06 Jana Secord (MS), of Omro, owner of Small Business Solutions, is retiring this summer.

’07 Julie Felix (BSN) and ’11 (MSN), of Ripon, is a family nurse practitioner at ThedaCare Physicians-Princeton.

’07 Kristi (Quant) Levy (BSE) and ’16 (MSE), of Oshkosh, is the new principal at Washington Elementary School. She previously taught English at Oshkosh North High School, South Park Middle School and Oshkosh West High School.

’07 Amy Rettler (MSE), of Allenton, will serve as the next principal of Evans Elementary School in the Fond du Lac School District.

’07 Michael Shull (BS), of Madison, completed his law degree at Marquette University in 2011.  He works for the Office of Lawyer Regulation, an agency of the Wisconsin Supreme Court.

’08 Vanessa (Madison) Talus (BSE), of Green Bay, has been teaching special education at Parkview Middle School for nine years. Her caseload consists of students who have intellectual impairments, specific learning disabilities and autism. She heads the peer mentor club, which trains peers to assist students with disabilities in the classroom.  She has been married for seven years and has three children.

’08 Jaimy Szymanski (BA), of Davenport, Iowa, is an independent analyst after working several years for Altimeter Group, a prominent tech consulting, marketing and business analysis firm in San Francisco. She has contributed to the new book Content-The Atomic Particle of Marketing: The Definitive Guide to Content Marketing Strategy.

’10 Shane Arman (BA), of Chicago, Illinois, is the senior director of agency relationships and business development for Burns Entertainment. He builds Burns’ business through partnerships with advertising, public relations and digital marketing agencies that are executing campaigns featuring celebrity influence, talent or music licensing.

’11 Andrea Skalmoski (MSE), of Monroe, is employed by the Monroe School District as a special education instructor.  She married Luke Hoenecke in April, 2017.

’11 Jean (Westerhaus) Bartz (BA), of Wisconsin Dells, was recently promoted to area manager with Commonwealth Management Company.  Commonwealth specializes in affordable housing projects that rehabilitate historic buildings into apartments as well as some new housing.

’12 Maren Raab (BS), of Marshfield, is a small animal veterinarian at Marshfield Veterinary Service.

’13 Madeline Meis (BA), of Alexandria, Virginia, just bought a home and became engaged to fellow alumnus, Tim Suess ’12 (BBA).

’14 Douglas Nimke (BLS), of Muscoda, moved back to Wisconsin to work at UW-Platteville after three years working out of state for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

’15 Jason Brown (BA), of Janesville, is a deputy sheriff at the Rock County Sheriff’s Office.  For the past 12 years, he has been a correctional officer. He also served in the U.S. Marine Corps.

’15 Katelyn Wendt (BSN), of Evansville, received the 2017 UW Health Nurse Excellence Award.

’15 Stephanie Wilcott (BA), of Wauwatosa, is the banquet manager at the Harley Davidson Museum.  She was married in June.

’16 Krystin Bartelt (BA), of Jefferson, graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.  She is a U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class.

’16 Jeremiah Hoffmann (BLS), of Fond du Lac, is the new athletic director for the University of Wisconsin-Fond du Lac Falcons.

’16 Rory Tendore (BSE), of Lander, Wyoming, is the newly-appointed director of the Eastern Shoshone Department of Juvenile Services.

’17 Kevin Dean (BAS), of La Farge, began work as the associate dean of public safety with Western Technical College in La Crosse.

’17 Ashley Millenbah (BS), of Merrill, is teaching wellness classes at Kindhearted Home Care in Merrill.

’66 Elsie (Gretzinger) Wagoner (BSE), of Argonne, received the Crandon Bell Tower Memorial. She taught second grade in the Crandon School District from 1972 until 2002 when she retired.

’77 Carole (Gorz) Rajkovich (BME), of Brillion, is finishing her 40th and final year teaching music in Brillion.

’79 Thomas Zoch (BS), of Neenah, has been named vice president of Care Management- Clinical for Ascension Wisconsin.

’81 Kevin O’Brien (BS), of Sheboygan, wrote The Rogue Effect, which is now available for sale. His book focuses on the 2016 presidential election and provides a study of the two candidates who were underdogs.

’81 Tim McKeag (BBA) and ’83 (MBA), of Appleton, was hired by Great North Bank as market president for the Appleton area.

’82 Hugh Leasum (BS), of DePere, is both executive vice president and chief operating officer for the Appleton-based Mills Fleet Farm.

’82 Russ Weyers (BBA), of Mount Pleasant, is president and chief executive officer of the Kenosha-based Southport Bank.

’87 Jill (Quirk) Kellner (BS), of Appleton, is a licensing certification specialist for the State of Wisconsin. She is looking forward to her oldest son’s wedding in September.

’89 John LaFleur (BS), of Hartland, went on to get his master’s of educational administration degree from UW-Madison and his doctorate from Cardinal Stritch University. He also played professional football in Europe for two years and is the principal at Wilmot Union High School.

’89 Amy (Nash) Jeanty (BA), of Fond du Lac, has worked for UWO since 2004 and is currently the academic department associate for the sociology department.

’92 Robert Croeker (BS), of Kenosha, has been in law enforcement for more than 25 years and is an adjunct instructor at Gateway Technical College.

’92 Tina Grenlie (BBA), of Waupaca, is taking on a new role as financial representative with Thrivent Financial in Waupaca after working for WDUX Radio for 25 years.

’92 Heidi (Mathweg) Wallace (BSW), of Beaver Dam, is a medical social worker for Columbus Community Hospital. Her daughter will begin college at UWO this fall.

’93 Kimberly Kendall (BS), of Phoenix, Arizona, retired from Arizona PBS after 11 years as the station’s viewer services coordinator.

’95 Susan Prince (BSE), of Neenah, completed her master’s degree in education in 2015 and last summer taught elementary students with learning disabilities in the Appleton Area School District.
’97 Stephanie (Kusak) Golombowski (BSE) and ’08 (MSE), of Milwaukee, is the school counselor-guidance director at Vincent High School in the Milwaukee Public School District.

’98 Lisa (Weinshrott) Kimmel (BS), of Hoboken, New Jersey, has been designing lights for live entertainment, weddings, galas, theatre and more for the past 16 years. Her latest adventure took her to Turks and Caicos to the Beaches Resort, as well as Sun Valley, Idaho. This fall, she will design the grand opening of a new building at Ripon College.

’99 Erica (Lyndgaard) Breitrick (BA), of Milwaukee, creates magical experiences for customers with lights, sound and video as a multimedia specialist at Direct Supply.

’02 Jennifer Henselin (BSE) and ’07 (MS), of Tigerton, recently completed an add-on license of speech communication through UWO. She will be teaching speech communication in addition to the English and theater courses she presently teaches in the Oshkosh Area School District.

’02 Mike Mathy (BS), of Milwaukee, has earned the Certified Association Executive designation, granted by the American Society of Association Executives. He serves as the executive director for the Federation of Clinical Immunology Societies and the National Vehicle Leasing Association.

’02 Brian Ross (BS), of Appleton, has been named head coach of the Neenah High School boys soccer program.

’04 Ben Priesgen (BS), of Whitewater, is a Lomira Village Board member and serves on the parks and IT committees. He is the owner of County Blossoms Organics LLC.

’04 Lara (Romportl) Kuchenbecker (BSE), of Neenah, is the new associate principal for Glenbrook Elementary School and the assistant Student Services director for the Pulaski Community School District.

’05 Stacey (Boehnlein) Tauber (BFA), of Menasha, works as a senior graphic designer at School Specialty in Greenville.

’06 Josh Murnane (BSE) and ’11 (MS), of Appleton, is the new activities director and associate principal for the Neenah Joint School District. He will oversee athletics and activities programs at Neenah High School and Shattuck Middle School.

’12 Nathan Tornow (BS), of Fond du Lac, worked at General Beverage as a Red Bull representative for three years and received Salesperson of the Year. He is now in the Gallo sales/ marketing wine division

’13 Brian Urbanek (BA), of Milwaukee, started his own video production company, GoldWing Productions LLC. He primarily uses video to tell the stories of nonprofits for fundraising and promotional purposes and has filmed in places like Mexico, Nepal and Peru.

’14 Lucas Suthers (BSN), of Monroe, is finishing his master’s degree in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program in August at Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

’15 Thomas Wollin (BS), of Madison, graduated from the federal Law Enforcement Academy in New Mexico and has been assigned as a border patrol agent in Arizona.

 ’67 Gerald Murphy (BS) and ’73 (MST), of Waupaca, retired after teaching for more than 35 years in Port Washington. He is serving his seventh term on the Waupaca County Board.

’70 Howard Schneider (BME) and ’77 (MSE), of Kewaskum, leads an 11-piece band from the Fond du Lac area called “The Howard Schneider Orchestra,” which plays Big Band era music.

’71 Tony Beregszazi (BA), of Fond du Lac, was elected treasurer of the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board of Directors. He is deputy director of ADVOCAP in Fond du Lac, where he has been employed for 43 years.

’71 Robert Chesney (BS), of Cedarburg, is teaching a nature poetry workshop at the Cedar Valley Retreat Center in West Bend on Oct. 14.

’73 Richard Adam (BS), of Madison, is retiring after 42 years in the supply chain management profession. He has been nominated to the Madison East High School Athletic Hall of Fame for his booster club and fundraising involvement.

’76 Terry Benter (BS), of Milwaukee, is retired and enjoying his cottage on Pickerel Lake.

’76 Denise (Zanto) O’Neil (BSN), of Appleton, retired after 41 years as a registered nurse with ThedaCare.

’78 Mary Muehlius (BS) and ’85 (MSE), of Lomira, is starting her 40th year as a special education teacher in the Slinger School District. She also has managed the Lomira swimming pool for 40 years.

’80 Tom Zak (BBA), of Oshkosh, retired after 35 years of sales management at Kimberly-Clark. He has spent the last few years coaching football at Oshkosh North High School.

’80 Bob Zemple (BBA), of Black Creek, was named to the board of directors of New North Inc. He is a 37-year employee and partner at Baker Tilly Virchow Krause LLP.

’84 Jean (Kern) Casper (BS), of Cudahy, recently celebrated her son’s graduation from UWO, 33 years after her own.

’85 Gary Dodge (BS), of Neopit, has been a lawyer for 22 years and owns Dodge Law Office in Shawano. He and his wife celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary in May.

’88 Debra (Lorbiecki) Schlehlein (BSN), of Waukesha, is a utilization manager with Children’s Community Health Plan in Milwaukee.

’88 William Wyngaard (BBA), of Phoenix, Arizona, earned his doctorate in business administration from North Central University in San Diego, California. He is an accounting faculty member at Glendale Community College in Glendale, Arizona.

’89 Ben Brantmeier (BS), of Jefferson, was sworn in as the Branch IV Jefferson County Circuit Court Judge. He has served as the City of Jefferson’s attorney since May 2002.

’89 Kerri Cushman (BFA), of Farmville, Virginia, was promoted to professor of art at Longwood University.

’90 Suzanne (Gove) Ihrig (BS), of Oshkosh, celebrated 20 years with J. J. Keller & Associates Inc. in May.

’91 Mark DeBroux (BBA), of Combined Locks, was selected as Member of the Year by the National CPA Health Care Advisors Association, which recognizes members for their overall engagement with the group and its members.

’91 Lori (Harron) Halstead (BS), of Oshkosh, is the new academic department associate for the UW Oshkosh College of Business, working with accounting, finance and business law.

’92 Marlo (Mallon) Osmond (BSE), of Oshkosh, owns two coffee shops, Planet Perk and Planet Perk in the Grind, with her husband. She also teaches fifth grade in the Oshkosh Area School District.

’94 Marianne Colburn (BSE), of Niagra, teaches English language arts at Beecher-Dunbar-Pembine School. She earned her National Board Certification in 2013.

’94 John Scheelk (BS), of Oshkosh, was appointed as the eastern Wisconsin area coordinator for Intertel IQ, a high IQ society limited to people with certified IQs in the top 1 percent internationally. He also is the Fox Valley area coordinator and a national test proctor for Mensa, a top 2 percent IQ society.

’96 Scott Blader (BS), of Wautoma, was nominated by President Donald Trump to fill the vacancy as U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Wisconsin.  He has served as the district attorney in Waushara County since 2007.

’96 Dr. Christopher Karas (BS), of Madison, opened a third branch of Karas Dental in Cottage Grove.  He has been practicing dentistry since 2002 with practices in Elroy and Necedah.

’97 Jason Hendricks (BBA), of Fond du Lac, was elected vice-chair of the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board of Directors. He is a human resource business partner at J. F. Ahern.

’97 Thomas Swigert (BA), of Hartford, was named assistant technical manager for the Kettle Moraine Players. He will be designing and operating lighting and sound systems at the new Kettle Moraine Playhouse starting summer 2018.

’98 Jeff Lyon (BA), of McFarland, wrote and directed the film “Main Street Meats,” an old school slasher and black comedy film that premiered in August at Barrymore Theatre in Madison.

’98 Michael Pica (BSE), of Wautoma, who has taught in the Wautoma School District for 17 years, currently teaches sixth grade physical education.

’11 Mary Kate Tomczak (BS), of Janesville, received her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from UW-Whitewater.

’12 Elisa Derickson (BA), of Madison, is a clinical research database manager at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health’s surgery department.

’14 Bonnie Soik (BSN), of Stevens Point, is a board certified nurse practitioner at the Aspirus Stevens Point Clinic.

’14 Boda Zhao (BSN), of Oshkosh, is a primary care provider at ThedaCare Physicians in Shawano.

’15 Steven Gross (BSE), of Oakfield, a special education teacher at Shattuck Middle School in Neenah ,is the new varsity softball coach for Neenah High School.

’17 Emilie Heidemann (BA), of Beaver Dam, is a reporter for the Lodi nterprise/Poynette Press.
